Default Been away awhile, kinda long.

Hello all, it has been awhile since I have been on here to post. I have been "lurking". I have been having a hard time with myself over the past month. Basically beating myself up, not for having the surgery but for being unable to "drop" the weight like I want to. I have been very jealous of others who weight just seems to fall off. I know it is my own fault. If i would only exercise more it might come off, but I just haven't figured out how to incorporate exercise into my day.

On top of that, I have been fighting darn UTI, or at least that is what I think they are. I finally got a doctor to prescribe me some medicine without me coming in to see him, they wanted me to pee in a cup, i was like that is my problem, i can't pee. I was in so much pain that I couldn't sit down, between the burning and pain I didn't know what to do. I couldn't even drive, so I had to call my husband to come get me and I sat in the back on the van on my knees 30 miles home. That was the only way he could get home since I wasn't able to sit down.

Now I am having back pain like where my kidney's are but only on the left side. I am also having pain I believe on the front lower abdomen left side and upper abdomen left side, that hurts more when I am eating, hmm maybe I should stop that.

I have a call into my surgeon's office, we have been playing phone tag since thrusday, I am not even sure I should be talking to him or going to see a regular doctor.

I am still so tired, my energy level has not imporved at ll. I am taking all the required vitamins, (was wondering if I was getting too much and that was why I had my UTI) trying to make sure I am getting all liquids in. Haven't had a problem with getting in my protein, been trying to keep my protein and carbs at a 2:1 ratio of course with the help of protein supplements.

I am still having problems with dizziness/lightheadiness and nauseousness (sp?). Not sure why.

Still hanging in there though, I do not regret having this surgery at all, just wish I wasn't having these minor problems. Of course everything can't run smooth now can they.

I am down 40lbs since May 21st, 30 since surgery June 4th. I noticed I have bat wings, ugh. Showed them to my hubby and he said he still loves me bat wings and all.. LOL what a guy.

I've missed so much and feel so bad for not responding to anyone. I wish everyone the best and do hope things are going well for all of you.

you really should be seen if you are having that much pain and can't pee. You could have a kidney infection with is WAY worse than a UTI. Please take care of yourself. Go to your PCP or go to the ER if you have to. Don't wait on this.
Feel better soon hon.

Ronette -- First off, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such a problem with the UTI and pain. If you don't hear back from your surgeon like ASAP, I suggest you contact your GP or family doctor to get an appointment. No one should have to deal with that pain!! (I feel for you, and especially today as I'm having a flare-up of the dreaded hemmorhoids, which I've developed since the surgery!)

Now as to feeling bad because you aren't losing as fast as you hoped: You are doing GREAT! You said you've lost 30 pounds since June 4th, which is only just over two months. This is an average of 15 pounds per month, or a pound every other day. That's awesome!! It's about where I've been, plus or minus a couple of pounds, for the past couple of months, and I truly understand how you feel about wishing it was coming off more quickly -- believe me, I do. I've been stalled at 290 for nearly past two weeks and this is the first real stall I've experienced. It is SO FRUSTRATING! But when this happens, I try to bring myself back down to reality by saying that prior to surgery I would NEVER have been able to lose 30 pounds in an entire year, let alone in just two months. The other mantra I keep repeating to myself which helps me to put all this into perspective is that even though we'd all love to see super-rapid results, the more slowly the weight comes off, the more likely our skin is to accommodate the weight loss. (I know for me at my age, I will definitely have extra "luggage" after losing so much weight, but if I lose the weight more slowly, maybe it will be a carry-on instead of the kind that needs to be checked! )

Anyway, I just wanted to say hang in here, that I (and most assuredly many others here) share your frustration, and please go see your doctor! I have no doubt you'll feel much more positive about everything if you start feeling better physically.

Nette,
I am definitely not a doctor, but as Duckie says, your symptoms are really in-line with a Kidney infection. When I had one, my pain was so severe that I went to the emergency room. It ranged from front to back and I was convinced that I was having either appendicitis or a another ectopic pregnancy. It was that bad.
I hope that you are feeling better soon, thoughts of feeling great are being sent your way!

Awe, Welcome Back Home!!!

Are you sure your not losing right? Sounds like you are doing just fine to me!! First I would take care of the pain, get to the bottom of that with whomever. Then...track your weight on the Weight loss Chart. It gives you an idea of what you and YOUR body need to lose, and at waht rate you want to do it. It's a wonderful TOOL.... http://www.thinnerself.com/files/Expect_Chart.htm

Personally, I think your doing just fine, very much like I myself did the first few months out. Stick around doll, you will see though we are all different, we all think we aren't losing it as quickly at the 'guy next door'.

I agree with Duckie afterall she is a nurse. I thought that I had a UTI, and got the meds etc two days later I ended up in the ER in the worst pain I've ever had. It was kidney stones. I had a ton of little ones in me, and man did those little bastards hurt! You should to see you doc, and make sure it's not your kidneys. Good luck I hope you are feeling better soon. Oh yeah you are doing just fine on your weight loss.

Default Welcome Back!

Welcome back, Ronette - it's good to hear from you again! I'm so sorry you're having these terrible pains. I'm not a doctor (nor do I play one on T.V.), so I don't have any words of wisdom, but I have faith in the good sense and experience of Duckie and the other posters who have responded. In your position, I would take seriously the fact that they are concerned about a possible kidney infection or stones and the URGENT need to see a doctor. I would follow their suggestions and seek help immediately, even if it means a trip to the ER!

On a lighter note (literallly), I think your weight loss is fantastic and am very proud of you! Thirty pounds lost in about two months would equal 180 pounds lost in a year - that's an excellent rate and very inspiring to us pre-ops!

Best wishes and many blessings, kiddo!

Hey there, Nette! I've missed seeing your name floating around these here parts. So glad to see you back but more than a wee bit concerned about all of the pain you are having. I'm in total agreement with Duckie and the others....first thought for me was a kidney infection and then kidney stones. Both would give you the symptoms you are describing and BOTH need to be treated by a doctor. I would say you have played phone tag way too long. You NEED to be seen now, sweetie!! I don't know which doctor you are trying to get ahold of but I would suggest if you can't get into your surgeon make it your pcp and if you can't be seen by either soon head to the ER. You are probably tired because you have an infection going on. The nausea isn't unusual at all at your stage as long as you are keeping foods down it wouldn't overly concern me. The dizziness could be a number of things...are you staying hydrated, do you have any meds like blood pressure or diabetic meds that need to be adjusted, are you eating foods higher in sugar or fat? I know I get real dizzy if I eat a meal with a wee bit too much sugar, sugar alcohol or high fat...it's kind of like a mini-dump. I get dizzy, a bit of a headache, gassy and just don't feel the best. You need to talk to your doctor about your dizziness too. In the mean time try to track if what you are eating is contributing to it, if you are getting in enough liquid or if you are waiting too long to eat. Some people need to eat something every 3-4 hours to keep their blood sugars up.

Now in regards to your weight loss please don't beat yourself up! You honestly are doing fine. At your stage I was averaging about 10-15 pounds per month. That's what you are doing so you really aren't slower than the rest of us....remember....I'm 18 month out now. My weight didn't come off fast either...just slow and consistent.

So stop beating yourself up. Just appreciate each successful pound that is coming off

I did get some meds to fight this infection and I am feeling alot better. My surgeon's office and I finally connected yesterday and she is suppose to call me back today about the abdomen pain I have been having. I did mention the dizziness to her and she stated that is normal with the fast weight loss. What fast weight loss?

I did chart my weight and would you believe I am below the slow weight loss. OMG,I believe it.. At least it is still coming off, slowly.

I am not having any problems keeping food down. However I do get extremely hungry by the time I get home and feel like I need to eat, eat and eat. Of course my little pouch doesn't allow that but i still feel the need. That is so hard for me to fight off.

Oh it feels so good to be back on here. Just been dealing with so many different things, oh and emotions let me tell you. Boy oh boy..

Thank you all for your kind words, I really do appreciate them. I have missed you all so much. Thank you again.
