Dizzy
Just wondering, has anyone else gone thru this?
I am constantly light headed, its no where near enough to make me fall, but its very annoying.
I am taking my vitamins, and protein, and eating as much as I can, but the light headeness is always there.
Any advice?

You really should talk to your doctor about it. Good luck.

Reached my new goal of 130...and I think I want to stop losing now. "Stop losing now".Wow, I never thought I'd ever say that!
Looks like Donna is right though. My body doesn't seem to be done...

Yes, I agree, call your doctor's office to report the symptoms. They will let you know what to do about it.
To answer your question, yes, I did have dizziness/lightheadedness early post-op. Started in about week 3 or 4 and lasted up til month 6, with still some symptoms from time to time. At first they felt it was dehydration, then when I convinced them I was drinking all my fluids, they thought it might be blood pressure. It was runnng low, but then soon picked up on it's own and I ended up on 1/2 of a B/P pill because it was creeping up to borderline. Finally, it was determined to be low blood sugar. I treat it with food. I have 3 meals and 2 planned snacks a day. It was fine up until just last week. Now I'm having strong hypoglycemia spells. I see the nutritionist this Thursday with a possible referral to an endocronologist.
Only your doctor can determine what it is. Don't fool around with it, just call them. Hopefully, it is nothing too serious. Good Luck.

I go through phases of light headedness and taking B-12 seemed to help quite a bit. Usually now its from not getting in enough food or liquids. Early out I had it quite a bit (and that was the b-12).

I went thru the same thing early post op and it turned out my blood pressure had dropped dramatically and they needed to take me off my meds. Go to the Dr and get checked out. =)

Dizziness is a common complaint post-op but like Missy said it can be due to multiple reasons.
One of the big ones is dehydration. Are you drinking at least 64 oz of fluids a day? Another reason is low blood pressure. Are you on any blood pressure meds? If so they more than likely have to be readjusted. Another reason is low blood sugar. How often are you eating? You may need to make sure you are eating something every couple of hours. How much protein are you getting in? The goal is a minimum of 60 grams. Another reason could be that you are getting anemic. Have they checked your iron or hemoglobin recently? They should have done that with your last hospital admission. Was anything said about your labs being abnormal like your hemoglobin or iron?
Those are usually the main reasons people get dizzy after surgery. You really should call your surgeon though to see what he thinks. He may want your labs checked. Or if you are on any meds that he feels may be contributing he may want to take you off from them or adjust them.
Hang in there Keith. This is a huge learning process and it all takes time but it is important to be aggressive in taking care of yourself.

I get lightheaded if I bend down or get up too quickly, I take B12 each day and drink lots, I think its just my body rebelling for lack of food?

Everyone seems to have posted all of the major issues, but I figured I would throw out another issue. I had a problem with dizziness and posted on here about a month ago -- ended up going to a surgeon and then an endocrinologist. I have what he called paradoxic hypoglycemic episodes, and, apparently, they are pretty common but go undetected. Basically I have normal blood pressure, take all my vitamins, eat normally, but my blood sugar drops below normal as I'm eating.
Until the doc identified it, I was eating about no sugar at all, according to the labels of all the food I ate. I pretty much ate beans with water and a little bit of fat free cheese for every meal (I know it sounds gross but it got me all the protein I needed and I was dropping 1-2 pounds a day). He told me to increase my sugar intake to 4-5 grams per meal and voila! No more dizziness.
I know a lot of doctors don't know about it (at least those I saw in Miami, New Jersey, and New York City), so it may be worth your while to research. Especially because it has such a simple solution and getting dizzy after a meal with business colleagues can cause for an embarrassing fall in a restaurant.
