Default Post-op question

As most of you know I am 2.5 weeks post-op (open). I THOUGHT the scale last week said 227. As of today the scale says 231. Is it possible for me to gain a few lbs? If so, why? I know 231 is still good for starting at 250.5, but still...you all know how I feel to see the scale go up is HORRIBLE!!! I am eating more now, but not that much more. I am still not drinking enough though! Also, after maybe 2 bites it feels like the food will come up my esophagus, feels stuck. Even though I chewed it good. I can feel the discomfort right in the middle of my chest, but only when I eat or drink. Go figure...when I drink like V8 or some times the protein drink.

Does anyone think it is possible when you dehydrated the numbers will not go down because your body is fighting to obsorb? Maybe dehydration has happened again?

Kelly -
I had my lap 1/27/05, and I am having the same fight with the scale. I guess you just dont expect it to go up. I too am having a tremendous time getting enough fluids down, i might be getting about 20oz a day. I know that is not enough. I however am not having any "stuck" feelings. I guess it goes to show that everyone is so different. Just wanted you to know that you are not in the boat alone..good luck

Thanks Kate. It does help knowing I am not alone. We must have been at the 1 week post-op meeting w/ Kelly together? Where were you sitting?

Hi Kelly,

Read my post Somethings gotta give. I was about 3 weeks when the weight came to a screaching halt and stayed that way for some time. I got so many good replies, I am certain you could get some good info from them

My advice to you is do not worry, the weight will, I repeat WILL, come off. I came to terms that some people lose faster than others and I am o.k. if I am not the speediest of loosers. For one, I may not lose as much hair and possibly not have as saggy as skin. I have no proof of this, but it makes sense and is a possibility.

I lost 11 pounds before surgery and have added another 38 in almost 7 weeks. For me that is faster and better than any other time in my life.

So, what am I blabbing about??/ don't worry,

IT WILL COME OFF.....NEVER TO RETURN!!!!

Try to get in liquids, even if it is tea or propel. We need it!!
good luck!!

Also, when you're dehydrated, your body hangs on to every bit of water, which can cause the scales to move. It's also normal for women to fluctuate 2-5 lbs up and down within a week or 2. Then, if you're still menstrating, there's that whole PMS thing too. It comes and goes. Up one week, slow another, fast for another, stop for a while, and lose again.
