Default I'm changing my goal!

Okay, my doctor never gave me a goal so I just set mine for the first number to be 1. That's why my sig says 199ish. Well, I just made my self a little chart showing the BMIs at different weights for my height. I have had my goal at 199 since surgery and I am now at 292 (actually, 286 if I could this mornings weight but I only change my "official" weight on Sunday morning). I have lost 165 lbs. and am still morbidly obese. That makes me sad, but I know what I can do! I am changing my goal from 199, which would put me barely in to the overweight category (I go from being obese to overweight at 202), to 160. 160 is only 39 lbs. lower than my original goal of just being in the 100's, yet it puts me in the Normal category by 8 lbs. Now I know my body will stop when it wants to stop, but I would LOVE to see 160!

I hope I'm not setting expectations too high for myself, but I need to do this now. It gives me much more motivation and will help me get back to the gym when I heal from having this gallbladder removed. Without the workouts, I wouldn't have made it to where I am and will never make my new goal! Yeah, me!

I too changed my goal but I actually went UP to 160 after my doctor told me that 150 was probably too small for my frame. My DH thinks that 130-140 is more like what I SHOULD weigh. I will just keep with the program and when my body says stop, it will do it on its own. Once I reach the doctor goal of 160, I plan to learn maintenance and stabilize at that weight until I can get the Panni removed and the tatas lifted, that should take off a few extra pounds and then maybe I will fit in a bikini (never have in my life)

Anyway Tonya, you keep up the good work and determination, exercise is key and you got the right idea.!

Tonya how tall are you? Just curious... my numbers are 190 to be overweight and 155 to be normal. I am 5'7" I am just shooting for the higher goal at this minute. My doctor never gave me a goal weight either.

Do I really want to be normal?? Having some body issues. Don't want to be too thin.

Good for you... You are very motivated, I dont see you having any issues with that goal. My docs goal was 220! I decided on 190ish... and then, decided I wanted to lose 201 pounds... so I picked 160 too! I cant wait for you to get there.. then I'll know its possible! awesome job you are doing by the way on the loss so far.. 165 pounds is nothing to sneeze at!

Thanks, everyone! Ya'll are awesome.

I am 5'9", btw, so a little taller but not much. I hope I've got the right figures. I got them off of a web site this afternoon but I don't remember which site. Anyway, I am satisfied with my goal. I think it will be a good number, but if I start getting lower and think that will be too low of a weight, I will change it again! I won't have another appointment with my doc until my 1 year followup in December. I do have monthly appointments with my nut so maybe I'll ask her for a "goal" weight. I don't really need one desperately, but I would like to have one just to know where I am headed on this journey. Kind of a finish line, so to speak.

Goal weights are wonderful because we have the ability to go with the flow, change them when appropriate, etc.

I'm 4'10" so clearly my goal weight is totally different than those who are 5'7" or 5'9".

I just changed mine from 120 to 126 (which will represent a 110 lb loss when achieved) because I, too, am concerned about maintenance issues. When I get there, I will adjust, and my body will as well. The chart says 110, but given my age, and my experience when I was thin before, bouncing between 120 and 126 is fine with me.

You girls totally inspire me!! I'm so proud of you!

Tonya,
I'm still pre-op and my surgeon hasn't set a goal weight for me either but I'm also 5'9" and my personal goal weight is 155-160. My husband dated someone in high school that was 5'9" and 120 so when we first started discussing this, he seemed shocked that I wasn't aiming for that.
But 10 years and a kid make high school weights seem really ridiculous. I have no idea how those girls weigh so little and don't look sick!
Anyway, I think your goal weight makes sense.
Best of luck getting the rest of that weight off. You've sure done great so far!
