Default You notice I don't even have one

I've been so frustrated over this issue - I can't even stand it! Neither surgeon nor nut will give me a goal weight. I said 140 out loud to my surgeon and he wrinkled his nose at me and shook his head! I could have kicked him!

So I think it is marvelous that you have decided on a goal. I actually have one in my mind and I'll put out there, encouraged by your bravery. It is 144. I carry about 20 pounds of extra muscle in my legs - they are ridiculous, but nice for all this bike riding I'm doing. Anyway, 117 is my ideal, 20 pounds for the legs and few for each kid. Actually 144 will be exactly half of what I started at which is where that number comes from - but I have no idea if it is realistic, high or low!

SO - the long and short is - I think your goal is great and your attitude about it is even better! I am still all screwed up about mine - despite what I just typed.

You may help me be more relaxed about it! Heck - I might even post it one day!

Congrats - I think you are doing an amazing job. Heal up quick now!!

I have had my goal at 199 since surgery and I am now at 292 (actually, 286 if I could this mornings weight but I only change my "official" weight on Sunday morning). I have lost 165 lbs. and am still morbidly obese. That makes me sad, but I know what I can do! I am changing my goal from 199, which would put me barely in to the overweight category (I go from being obese to overweight at 202), to 160. 160 is only 39 lbs. lower than my original goal of just being in the 100's, yet it puts me in the Normal category by 8 lbs. Now I know my body will stop when it wants to stop, but I would LOVE to see 160!

I hope I'm not setting expectations too high for myself, but I need to do this now. It gives me much more motivation and will help me get back to the gym when I heal from having this gallbladder removed. Without the workouts, I wouldn't have made it to where I am and will never make my new goal! Yeah, me!
GO FOR IT. Absolutely! I think its great you are stepping up your goals again. I made several revisions myself. You can do it! Trust me. You decide when it ends honestly.

I'm happy you are already down so much weight. I know what it feels like to be down a huge amount of weight and still be MO. I was 445 pre op. Keep up the great work. Set your goals high and achieve them thats what I say.

Gina you desperately need to get body analsys done sweetie. Its like with the heart monitor knowing what you're body burns in a day and in a workout. Not knowing is like walking blind. This is the same thing. You need to know exactly how much of your weight is muscle/water/fat. And calipers aren't accurate(you need to do he hydrostatic method.)

Tonya, I stuggled with a number for goal too and set mine at 180 which still had me overweight and when I got there, my body took me lower. Key thing is your body will help you decide and when you are there, you will know what is right for you. I am now 30 pounds below that and its not a good weight for me. I need to gain back 10 pounds, maybe 15 to get to where I look a little better...I am too gaunt right now. NEVER did I ever think I would want to gain weight....head games!

I am 5"9 and my husband is 5"4.....and he has never been overweight in his whole life. We now weigh within 10 pounds of each other!
