Default I have questions!!!

So... I'm a week out from surgery. To the day.

I feel great. I went for a mile walk this morning. I ate 2 Tbs of sun dried tomato hummus mixed with 2 Tbs of French onion soup broth for lunch. Another 2 Tbs of hummus and 1 Tbs of almond butter for dinner. Both protein shakes are down for the count. Water is too.

I've been able to eat around 4 Tbs of food for the last 3 days or so, twice a day (although, I have to admit, the second time is kind of hard... I could probably easily eat 4 Tbs of food once a day, then 1 or 2 for the second meal and be perfectly satiated). My breakfast I still haven't managed to wake up early enough for.

My question is... I kinda feel like I'm eating too much. I eat at least twice a day, drink 2 protein shakes, and make sure I get my 64oz in. I haven't dumped once. I haven't even been nauseous a single time since about day 2 after surgery. The soreness from my incisions is nearly completely gone. I can get in and out of bed, bend over, climb under the bed to get my cats, take a shower normally, all without much more than a mild twinge of achey ab muscle. My incisions are already pink and scabbed over. Gas pain stopped cold turkey about 5 days out from surgery. I've been walking a mile a day since my second day after surgery and having a bowel movement twice a day like clockwork.

I'd venture to say that I don't feel like I had surgery at all, especially considering I can eat a total of 6-8 Tbs of food already and put down water and protein shakes like nobody's business! As a matter of fact, I've felt so "normal" for the last couple of days, that last night I actually went to the Kennedy Center to see Phantom of the Opera on stage (something I've wanted to do for a LONG time)!!!

Am I an oddball? Am I eating too much? Should I still be in pain? Is it possible my doctor didn't do the surgery at all but just sliced me open and made me THINK he did (LOL)? I'm just curious... because I feel really, really odd feeling this good this quickly.

Any advice/input/comments/criticism welcome. :P Thanks guys!

Honey I wouldn't complain! I would sit back and enjoy it if you feel great. You can't mess it up... Janie

I'm pre-op and LOVE to hear stories like this! I find myself focusing on all of the bad things that can happen, and so when I run into a happy story it just makes me feel all warm inside. Congrats and I hope the rest of your journey is smooth sailing.

I remember feeling like I was eating too much. Heck, I still feel that way! I think back to the "old" days and how I ate..and I'm not eating anything close to that amount! It's just that we feel so full with eating so little now. Before it would take me a big mac, supersize fries, apple pie, and a coke to feel as full as I do right now after just having 3oz of meatloaf, a few bites of mashed potatoes and veggies!! Believe me, the surgery does work. Some people do have issues with pain/nausea/etc. Ever since my 2nd surgery, I have not had a moment of nausea or pain. I am glad to be one of the lucky ones! Be thankful you are too!!! Don't worry...you will be fine. Trust us, this surgery does work.

How great that you feel so fantasitc!!! This makes me really happy for you. Question, though - when, in your lifetime have you ever been able to eat 6-8Tbsp of anything and be completely satisfied? Or satisfied with liquid? I would say that your surgery DID happen, and that it was a success - go with it and enjoy the losing side of life, love

This is how things should go and do go most of the time. The complications and difficulties of others do stand out in our minds. The truth of the matter is most people do just fine!!!! congrats on being one of those.

Hah, okay well I'm glad I'm not like... odd or something.

And yeah I suppose I didn't really think of it in terms of "when have you ever been able to eat 6-8 Tbs of something and be satiated" cuz that sure as hell has NEVER happened. LOL

Hell, I'm eating two tablespoons of baby oatmeal, mixed with 1 tsp of sugar/fat free strawberry preserves, and probably a Tbsp of soymilk and I'm feeling excellent full halfway through. :P It's quite hysterical! LOL
