Default Don't feel ashamed

Ryker, you don't need to feel ashamed. At six weeks out I am still having similar feelings. We can't eat like we used to. I am constantly having dreams about donuts, ice cream, cake etc. My dreams are so detailed about food...what it looks like, tastes like etc. This morning when I woke up I told Squishy about the donuts I dreamt of last night! I could be a recipe inventor for gourmet donuts!
I mourn food just the way you are...it is like saying goodbye.

Take Care,
Jane

Oh honey, its really ok. I was SO emotional after my surgery and understand crying at the drop of a hat. I just had to remove myself away from these environments and always reminded myself that food is just food. Watching people eat large volumes of food, or crappy foods just make me ill now. Your tastes, feelings toward food will change, but it does take time.

Hang in there.........big things are to come for you and you will hold your head high watching others eat as your clothes start dropping off you!

Default As a guy..

I havent cried, but frustration is huge for me. I am about 45 days out or so (down nearly 60 lbs too..) and I went to a team lunch for work the other day to a nice italian resteraunt. I looked at the menu, and nothing on there looked appetizing, and I wasnt hungry at all and didnt want to dump for fear of any hidden sugars, so I ordered nothing. It was my first time out with people eating, and I felt terrible, Its not that I wanted to eat persay, but I wanted to fit in, or at the very least not to be the odd man out.

I think thats the most frustrating part, being the one person who is "different"

But it is so worth it. Especially at 24, wow thats so young to have so much time ahead being healthy. I envy you for that. I am 34 and just starting to feel like I did in college.

No body is perfect, we deal with what happens, its how we do it that defines us..

(all poetic and stuff.. lol)

Default Odd Man Out

Definitely makes you feel like the odd man out or a fifth wheel.

It does get better, though.
