Thumbs up 6 Weeks....down 36#'s

YEAHHHHH!!!!

I am feeling good!!! Wanted to share how things are going. I am 6 weeks post op today and I am feeling so great. I actually bought a pair of TOMMY HILFIGER JEANS size 16!!! O.M.G!!! Yes, they are a little snug, but I need a pair of cute pants for a party I am going to next week, and then they should fit perfect!!!

I think I should go to the clothing exchange as I am going to go broke buying too much stuff. By the way the jeans were on sale!!

For those of you who helped me with my job delema:
Just wanted to update that I spoke with my manager and she is so cool about me taking it easy. (I don't need no stinkin' note....just kiddin'!!) Seems I been pushing too much for them any way. They want me to ease up on the physical and use tha guys who I should have been using before. But I am the type that just goes and does stuff.

Anyway, they see me in a more proffessional light than I see myself. They want me to lay off the manual labor and expand my creativity yada, yada, yada!!!

They were all freakin' when they saw me!!!

Well, food has been going down well. Sometimes surprises me that I can eat quite a bit of stuff like soup and chili, even salad. But only a couple bites of dense protien like tuna or chicken.
Had only one bad reaction, not sure if it was dumping or not. Ate the inside of a shrimp burrito from Rubio's. I felt kinda tired and nauseas. (sp?) My heart was beating soft but fast. After about 10 to 20 minutes had to go potty than I was fine. Was that dumping???? If that was dumping, what could have spurred that episode?

I want to say thanks to everyone for posting and helping me throught the first 6 weeks. I know that I have done this well because each and every one of ya'll!!!

Love ya

Rain

Wink Rain!

You ROCK Girl! Congratulations on your success so far. Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Just wait because it keeps getting better! I have always wanted some Tommy jeans, but just can't really afford them with losing the weight so rapidly. I did however, get some really cute Calvin Klein denim, short overalls at the Salvation Army...yes! I said the Salvation Army. I only paid $3.50 for them. They have good clothes if you look hard enough and like I said, due to the rapid weight loss, it's not worth spending a bundle on clothes that aren't going to fit for very long.

Keep up the great work Rain!

Rain,
Congratulations!!! You are doing a wonderful job! That episode you had does sound like dumping to me. It could have been caused by any of the ingredients in the burrito filling. Try isolating those items and see what reaction you get to them individually. Keep up the great work!

Thumbs up Rain

Rain,

Way to go girl.. size freaking 16!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! How wonderful is that. Did the burrito have coctail sauce or any sauce in it? Sometimes that has sugar in it and can be a dump waiting to happen..

Keep up the great work!! Glad you talked with your boss.. I'm really glad they are awesome and are willing to help you out..

Sounds like you've got the world in your hand.. you are doing so wonderful.

Hey Rain!

Wow you are doing so so well. Your post sounds like you are really in a good and positive space right now. It's amazing how getting rid of the pounds just makes everything feel a little better. Work, home, relationships, just arent as hard when you are not as heavy and miserable. It's amazing how we ever functioned. Just wait until you are down another 36lbs! You'll be taking over your whole department! I have had some problems with shrimp myself. It didnt go down well when I was on my cruise (I had it in a cream/newburg sauce, and it hurt), then I just bought some peel and eat shrimps this week and ate them with cocktail sauce. Both times I ate them they hurt going down and gave me a tummy ache. Not sure what that is. Perhaps the texture/density/abrasivness of the shrimp meat. I have had the same experience with white meat chicken. Not so much when the chicken is dark meat or very very moist. I still have a lot of shrimp left in my fridge and now I am afraid to eat it <sigh>. Overall how is your tummy feeling? Is eating still sort of painful most of the time? or is it getting easier? I still am not very consistent about understanding how much to eat. I am finding if I eat little tiny snacks all day long they don't bother me, but when I eat a meal (1/4 cup+) it still hurts a bit. I don't want to end up being a snacker but that is what feels the best right now. Just little nibbles all throghout the day. How about you? Also, how are you doing with drinking water?? That is the weirdest thing to me, I still have a problem with drinking water of all things. It still hurts. Do you have that?

Rain you are doing great. You will lose most of your weight in the next 6 weeks. Most people lose 3/4 of their weight in the first three or 4 months. I had lost close to 90 pounds by then, in July I weighed 149 from March 16 weighing 246. At nine months I weighed 130 and stayed there, at Christmas I gained two pounds but have lost that plus 5 more since. To me dumping is an immediate response, I had that twice with raisin bran, it didnt wait, it cam on like a ton of bricks, painful, sweating, waves of nausea and the other stuff too.

Carol right now its about all you can do to get food down is to take it in little bites frequently. It isn't snacking at this point. Good protein is always harder going down than carbohydrates. We can tolerate alot more volume of carbs than protein, that is why it is so important to eat the protein first. Three bites of chicken will also hold off your hunger longer than 1/2 a baked potato will. It is just the way it works. As for pain while eating, reading the pouch the rules, you will understand, if you have pain while eating you are eating too much to fast or not chewing good enough. Try a bite and chewing well, then wait a few minutes, if no pain take another bite. 9 weeks post op still early, keep walking and sipping. Water didn't go well with me, still doesnt, but I can drink from the fountain at work and swallow maybe 5 or 6 times then I feel ill for a min while in the elevator and walking back to my unit it takes it all up and im fine. I have to do it taht way at work or I just can't get my fluid in.

Keep up the good work there you two.

Hugs,

Traci

I never thought I would read that someone else had trouble with *water* of all things. I used to drink alot before surgery, now I get nauseous and find it hard to get even 30oz in a day. But you are right Traci, the feeling goes away in a bit.

I too have troubles with drinking enough H20. I do not like the taste of it. I drink a lot of crystal lite...that gets me through. I am only 2.5 weeks post-op and can already tolerate small bay shrimp with cocktail sause. I love it. Maybe the shrimp your eating is too big. My hubby got me the smalled bay shrimp out there (ones fishermen use). I can tolerate several at a time, chewed really well, and about 3 fork fulls. I love it.

But water, I have never been able to stand water...
