Default Blood clots

Well we had a scare this past weekend, thought I had developed blood clots in my legs.

Sunday morning I woke up with the worst pain in my calfs, called ask a nurse and they said it didn't sound like blood clots but to be on the safe side make sure i elevate my legs and see how it goes.

That is fine, as the day went on it really didn't get any better so I called the local hospital, they told me they couldn't do anything for me and to call the hospital where i had the surgery. Well I did and got to talk to the doctor on call for my surgeon. He didn't feel like it was blood clots either but said if it continues to make sure I call my surgeon in the morning.

Monday morning, still there. Called him, they scheduled me for a scan tuesday morning and had me see him (even though he was in surgery, he wanted to be paged as soon as I as there, i just adore him ).

Reports look good, although the technician said it was difficult due to the size of my legs.. Yes I have big legs, I was hoping they would go away..

So all in all I have no blood clots just achey legs. Thank goodness!

Nette, it could possibly be a lack of calcium??? When I had kidney stones I had the worst leg pain due to the stones sucking up all the calcium.

Your body is going through big changes & may rebel in some way, this could be it! Glad to hear it wasn't clots though!!

Calcium uh, do you think I could add in the extra calcium citrate w/Vit D now? They gave us instructions that said and 1 month to add that in , Can't see how it would hurt.

Never thought of it being a lack of calcium. Will try to up my intake,
Thanks

Default Weigh in/ Back to work

Well a couple things today,

1. I started back to work, , it is ok, but I miss being home with the kids

2. I weighed in today and I am at 290, got below 300 mark but it is only a
13lb loss since surgery, not sure if that is good or not.

So here I am trying to figure out this whole thing not that I am back to work. Needed to make sure I had plenty of drink, yogurt and deli meats with me to last for the week. Didn't get to work out this morning, will get on treadmill tonight. I was up at 5:15 this morning thinking I would have time to get on the treadmill, but it didn't work out that way. Need to rearrange my schedule.

Just a little update on me, nothing too exciting. Hope everyone else is doing well. Kinda feel behind on posts, need to do some major reading..

Sounds like you are doing VERY WELL HON! Keep up the great work. The leg cramps could be dehydration also. I get them when I don't drink enough water. Good luck on being back at work.

Thanks for the update. I am still concerned about your leg pain though?

Its only been 2 weeks since your surgery and your weight loss is going well. No worries girl.

You are doing great, Nette.

The leg pains could be low calcium, potassium, dehydration or just plain ole' leg cramps. What I can tell you is that it isn't unheard of for people to get SIGNIFICANT leg cramps after surgery. There isn't much medical information out there to explain why it happens but it seems to go along with significant weight loss. I never experienced but I've heard of others that have.
