Change Of Taste??
I have always been a picky eater, but one thing I could never, ever eat was FISH!!! When my mom made it or bought it I would put it in my mouth than rush to the bathroom and vomit. Not on purpose, I could not handle the flavor or the texture!!!
WELL!!!!!!!
Today, I gave in to craving I have had since my surgery, one that I could not believe was true!! I was craving FISH, yes, fish!!!
So, since I hate fish I never learned how to prepare it....so my fish loving husband took me to FISH HOUSE VERACRUZ where I enjoyed, yes enjoyed some delecious Talapia. Granted it was only a couple bites, because I can only eat a couple bites of anything. But I actually liked it. It tasted all together differant than any fish I had ever had.
What is up??? I want to try other fish now. My husbands Salmon even tasted good, he said it was strong, but I liked it??? HUH???
Well, I am so happy, because I know how good it is for me. Now I need to learn how to buy and prepare it.
Any suggestions or recipes???
RAin

I hated fish and shrimp pre-op, and stll do. I have had no change in my likings or dislikings of food or drink.
I dont seem to think about milk that much anymore. I always used to have it all the time.

Cravings
Rain,
I hated milk pre-op and after a couple of months I craved milk, and sometimes still do.. very rarely do I drink it anymore as it is full of empty calories that I don't need to consume, but when I get the craving I drink it because I think it is my bodys way of telling me I need it.
As far as recipes go, I don't know I usually just put lemon pepper on it and put it in the oven. I am not a very good cook, but I do try. Try www.foodtv.com they have a lot of great recipes on there.
Fish is GREAT!!! I love it!!!!

Rain,
I get cravings for food that I forced myself to eat prior to surgery such as vegetables. I hated to eat veggies and now I crave them. I was able to eat fish prior to surgery and now it makes me want to hurl. I loved chilli prior to surgery and now my poor stomach rejects it every time. I can eat jalepenos whole, salsa, hot stuff, and all, but for some reason chilli gets me sick EVERY time. You think I would learn.
If you crave it, your body probably needs it. I am happy that you are able to eat fish..it is very good for you.
BTW~ did you get your note from Kelly for NO lifting at work?? I hope so!!

Rain,
Epicurious.com has some killer fish recipes. I buy some light fish like halibut, sole, etc. Put it in a piece of tin foil and make a pouch (so you can seal it up). Add butter, veggies, and 1/2 lemon squeezed. I like creol seasoning too, it adds some spice. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for approximately 10 minutes.

Fish is a great source of protein. I always loved it before and even better now. I do prefer it raw though...bring on the sashimi!

I've had some really weird changes. I have always been pretty picky...but now I like fish, chai, and mushrooms. I used to gag just thinking about them. Also, I go through periods where I really crave veggies...never used to happen. However, I still hate eggs!
