Smile Protein questions

I had my surgery last week, how on earth does one get enough protein during the day? I feel a little weak, that may be from the tylenol w/codeine, but I know that I am not getting enough and I cannot stomach the protein shakes that are out there, and the Isopure just seems to sweet to me ( i was loving those pre-op) I add flavorless protein to what I can, but that is not alot. Any suggestions

Thank you
Kate

You do what you can. I wouldn't fret too much over it. When you have your post op f/u, they'll do blood tests to check where you're at. It will get easier as time goes by and you can start eating a broader variety of food. Fish is the best source of of high protein in smaller servings. Salmon has 22 grams of protein per 3 oz serving. Beef jerky has 15 g per 2 oz serving. Chili ranges from 10-23 grams per serving. I only had about 4 shakes before gave up on that. Just couldn't stand the taste and texture. Start reading labels and choose the foods with the highest content you can tolerate. The amount can vary greatly from brand to brand. It's normal to feel weak for the first few weeks too.

Hi Kate,

when was your surgery? Did you have it with Dr C or Dr. p.?

Anyway, I felt so very week the first weeks and sometimes even now. We have been through alot.

Give yourself a break and let yourself heal before you worry.

What flavorless protien do you speak of?

Hope you feel better soon.

Rain

My surgery was 1/27 a week ago tomorow. My doctor is in Huntington Beach, Dr. Quebbemann. The protein my sister got for me through her doctors office in Fountain Valley it is called ProCel, it is the best that I have found. It does not alter the taste one bit, it is manufactured by Global Health, their website is www.globalhp.com

Anyway thank you for taking the time to read and answer my post, it is always nice to know that you are not in this boat alone.

Take Care - Kate
