Default Working out on weights

Here is a question aimed at all the post-op males out there, buy you ladies can help too!

For those who are way out there (9+ months) and those who have had any plastic surgery, were ther/are there any specific types of exercise/work-out routines to help aide in toning up your skin.

For example, I have a miniscule amount of loose skin on my arms , but my working out with my arms by curls and various other ypes will fill up that skin in not too long

But what about abdominal exercises, legs and stuff? Have any of you having the plastic surgery already been pre educated prior to PS?

Any advise will help as I have been working out lately and can see results already in my arms shoulders and chest.

As a matter of fact, I haven't done any sit-ups since the Marine Corps (1990) and shocked my self by doing 40 last night in my first attemp.

Thanks foy any input!!

Thumbs up Working Out

Gerry,

Like you, I have a small amount (yet annoying amount) of loose skin under my arms.. my lil bat wings.. that I just hate. I have been working out some lately and doing pilates. Honestly, that has seemed to help with the toning of my arms.. I am not trying to get bulky in the arm area.. or anywhere for that matter. However, when I did visit the PS last year to ask him what I needed to do to ensure the best Plastic Surgery results he told me that the more I toned up underneath the better the contour and results would be with plastic surgery. It makes sense to me.. like he said if you tone the muscle under the skin it makes the surgery easier for one.. he doesn't have to guess where your muscles should be.. and it makes it look so much nicer. I have been trying to do some crunches and stuff to ensure really nice results for when I do have a TT (Which won't be until after kids of course.)

However, I am working on the legs, chest wall, and arms because I do want that skin removed yesterday!! LOL

Sorry that I don't have any real experience with this advice, Gerry but I hope that it helps in some way?

Good luck to you my friend.. and if you go to 24 hr fitness and ever need a work out partner, let me know.. I am always game for that!!!

It helps a lot. Legs, chest, arms, the abs it helps but that is a tough area. The ab muscles just don't grow like some of the other muscle groups. Also for the abs to show you have to get close to single digit body fat numbers. I've had some good results. There is a woman in San Diego that had WLS that rocks in the upper body dept also.

I have some photos I can send if you like.

I use 24 hr but everything I do can be reproduced at a home gym.

A leg shot. Pre TT and a year later on the side by side. I only gained 5 pounds in the gym but the fat loss is obvious. 170 on the lt and 175 on the rt. Threw in the before photo in 98 with the ex (hard to crop her out lol). Including a link to that woman's sight. Nice guns on her. lol

The protein loading was a big deal for me also. When I first started working out i was really getting beat up until I started supplements.

The biggest deal is that this is a body I have never known. I was always obese. Even in High school I wrestled at 200 pounds in 9th grade. Right now I have a 32 in waist. I think I was a 36 in 6th grade. I never knew I could get these kinds of results. It just isn't something I had ever experienced so how could I? It's a little freaky sometimes and overwhelming.

Default Working out!

Speaking of working out I really really want to start working out I have a gym in the apartments I live in we have a cardio room, weight room, and pool. My thing is when it come to stuff like that Im soooo shy so I just want to get something to put in my room and do when I wake up first thing in the morning I have already cleared a space that is step one now all I have to do is find something that is right for me. So any advice I want something to work on my arms and my thighs Im small on top but when you hit my waist its like kaah-boom and my arms are getting alot of lose skin so I was thinking some sort of bike that has those handle bars that move back and forth but I dont know can anyone suggest something. My mom has that Gizzel but I dont know if im coordinated enough to use that..lol..anyways any help would be great. Veronica

ok.. That was my problem too over the years. I have joined gyms several times just to quit after a week. I finally broke down and got a trainer. As long as I was working with him I was focused. After 2 weeks and 6 sessions I was not self concious about myself. I just focused on a structured workout and did what I needed to do. So what can you do at home? Cardio for sure at this point but if you don't feel balance enough I understand. I jump rope, use an eliptical machine and that's about it on the cardio side. Try some balance ball excersizes. The ball is fairlt inexpensive and it will really help you core muscles. That should help a lot with balance and coordination. The thing to do when going off on any adventure tho is to take the first step.

Yeah that's me. Hard to believe. I had the TT on Jan 30th 2004 so I was 2.5 years out. I waited a year after I hit goal to make sure I could maintain my goal weight.
