Default SODA Question

I am five months out and i have lost 84 lbs. I have been able to eat a little bit more . I was having problems getting anything down for about three months. Now i have chicken with grilled veggies or pork steaks and they go down great. So silly me decided to try a diet soda the other day. Now it didn't make me sick but it was like my pouch didn't know what to do with it. Does anyone drink soda and it goes down ok. I am sticking with my water but one every once in a while would be nice.

I sip on sodas myself....but just a little bit...the dang bubbles take up too much space to put anything else in there for a while.

My motto is deny yourself nothing, enjoy everything in moderation.

This is a touchy subject. Some drink Soda/Pop/Coke..whatever and swear it's their treat, others will tell you it's Satan Juice and to run as far from it as possible. The other set may just say in moderation.

I will give you the one fact I know, and if you continue to drink it, I say it's your choice. I have a sip every now and again...just a sip...and my pouch doesn't much care for it either. When I THINK I want it...that helps.

FACT: Everyone who re-gains their weight...drinks Soda/Pop/Coke. Not everyone who drinks it, re-gains their weight.

Personally, I am not tempting fates...but I am sure you will get quite a few opinions about this...it's been discussed before. Use the search feature and key in Pop/Soda etc....

I like Zen, can tolerate some, but I really don't care for it now. I was quite scared about it over the controversy of stretching the pouch..so for me it was an easy decision. No carbonation of any kind.

Straight diet coke is to fizzy but if I put in a little rye every now and then it takes out most of the fiz, and seems to go down fine, just my take on it.

yeah me and soda dont get along . even stirring out most of the bubbles makes me ill the next day (not vomiting either) yucky. i wasnt a big pop drinker before surgery so i dont mind giving it up. but id say if you can tolerate it , go for it , just in moderation.

We just went through our Pro-OP class and our Doc stated that it can pass into the intestine. When it does the bubbles swell a small part of the intestine just below the stomach allowing you to hold more food thus possible weight gain. We will stick to Ice tea and Crystal Lite.
