Default Bloody Stool

Hey everyone,

Sorry, I know this is a yucky subject.

Well, after a very hard time on the toilet a week or two ago, I'm having a lot of bright red blood come out every time I go. I know it started when I went that one time. Do you think it's just some tearing that isn't healing very well or am I in big trouble?

I'm awaiting a return call from the doc tomorrow but I'm really nervous!

More than likely, its just tearing. But to be on the safe side I would definately get it checked out since it hasn't quit for several days. My mom died from colon cancer - any bleeding freaks me out. Better to be sure. But you know that it started with the one difficult bm, so most likely it's nothing. If it were me, I would want the assurance of a test. Good Luck!!

It could also be from a hemorrhoid, but I WOULD get it checked ASAP! It's nothing to play around with.

Hi there. I work for a GI group...and BRBPR (bright red blood per rectum) is something that's fairly common. It's usually an internal hemorrhoid...however, you should have it checked. Usually it isn't serious if it's bright red blood. However, if it's dark...or you have black, tar-like stools...then get your butt into the ER! You say you are having a lot of blood? Like more than a Tablespoon? That's not usually a good sign....Please get it checked just to be on the safe side. You can't be too careful with that stuff!!!

I get it a lot. I have bathroom problems a lot! I've never been to the doc for it because it has never been longer than a day or so. I wouldn't worry about it to much, but it can't hurt to get it looked at.

Hemorrhoid or fissure are the two big common diagnosis. Take stool softeners, drink tons of water, fiber supplement if you can and just get checked out. In your age group it won't be anything bad.
