My wow moment, and a reality check
This weekend we had a horse drawn plow day at our farm. We had @ 17 teams. The weather was great for a spring day in Michigan (got to 80!) So I went upstair (to my clothes stash, many sizes to choose from) to get a pair of shorts, tried on the 22's and they were too big, ended up with an 18 and they had plenty of room! I can't tell you when the last time I had on a 18 and it did feel great!
And now for my reality check. People started to come in on friday night to camp, so we had a hot dog roast, and everybody brought something for it. I did alright, had a hot dog, one with a bun and one without, and couple handfuls of Doritos, over about 2 hrs, I know I know, too long time. Then on sat was the big potluck, WOW we had everything, but I felt that I have made the good choices, and a small sliver of a few deserts. Then that night we had yet another potluck, I had a grilled checken breast, and those darn Doritos. Later around the bon fire we made popcorn so I had a bowl of that and some peanuts in the shell (they have protien right!)
Sunday noon yet another potluck, I ate mostly taco salad, and lunch meat, and tried 1/2 brownie. That night we had steak and baked potato and corn, I had the right amount of steak, a very small spoon of corn, but a whole potato.
My big reality check is that I can eat sugar, and fat and they don't bother me at all. So now I must be careful with my choices. This is the first time that I have ate sugar since my surgery, I really wanted it to bother me, but now I have to just plain give it up again, I don't need it anymore. I have also found that this tool does work for portion control, but not if you graze, and that is what I did this weekend.
Today is monday, and I am right back on program. The scales showed a 2 lb gain, and that was a reality check too. I have to get my brain in the right place again and build up my determanition because we have 3 more weekends of plow days comming up!
This is just like confession, and typing it out helps me realize just how I did. Thanks for letting me rant, I do feel better!
Ann

Congratulations on your success so far. We all do things like that. As long as you step it up as soon as you can, you'll be fine. I too can eat sugar and have to watch myself carefully. When I say I can have sugar I can drink an entire regular coke (39 grams) without problems. I did this once when we were at a picnic and nothing else was available. They had well water that smelled like eggs! It went down fine. Now I have to stay away!

Ann . . . watch out for the slippery slope! Before surgery, I was always the girl that could have lots of weight loss success only to "celebrate" it back on!! Even with our tool, you can gain the weight back. I'm over a year out and can eat pretty much anything in moderation (except having anything with sugar in the am - I need protein first). I didn't have a "celebration" weekend until I was at goal, but then, I found myself grazing more because I COULD . . . I gained 3 pounds and WHAM . . . caught myself before I reached a DANGER weight for me. Get back on that horse . . . and try to have next weekend the fresh fruit PlowDay . .. .

Thanks Kevin, I am really watching it now.
And Laurie, I will definatly watch out for that slope, I too have done the "celebrate" thing. The thing is that I was not this time, I just got sloppy about my times and choices. Next plow day won't be here at our house, so I won't be putting it on and will have my right foods in my camper, and I WILL do better! You are right, fruit will be my sweet of choice! I have come too far to fall off the band wagon now!
By the way, how tall are you, your stats are close to mine, and you look wonderful, I have a goal of 130, never thought that might be a size 4!

Ann you said the weather was going to be great for Plow Days!
It was great, I got the pictures of you, Beth & me so I'm going to try to post them later this week or have Beth do it. Just incase anyone is wondering, I got to take Anns' size 22 shorts home with me.

Ann, I'm a shortie - 5'3" - I guess the size 4 is a bit deceptive, I wear 4 petites on the bottom (Talbot's Petites are great find at resale stores!) but I wear more like an 8 for jackets - I have rather chest and large shoulders. I'm the not so classic upside down triangle look. I carried all my weight in the front . . . which is why I have this droopy pannis . . . but even with all this skin, I'm a 4 in most brands. (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic) And even if I wear 8's on top . .. by gosh , I'm still saying I'm a 4, hee hee hee.
I never thought I'd be small - I was SURE I had really big bones . . . and alas, only my shoulders are big.

Hey Ann, it was great spending some time at your farm on Saturday!! I had a good time. Thank you for inviting me.
You know I actually can join you in the slippery slope thing this weekend. I had a church youth dinner on Friday night and ate things I didn't think I would be able to. Had my first hotdog on a bun!! Just that alone wouldn't have been a big deal but I also had a sliver of Chicago pizza (skipped the crust) and a sliver of cheesecake. Wouldn't have been so bad except then I went to your plow days and ate more than I should have. Then Sat. night we were at some friends house. I didn't make terrible choices but felt I ate too much. I tell you yesterday I could feel I over ate the days before. I had NO APPETITE, which was probably a good thing. I also felt I had made too high of salty food choices. This morning? A 1 pound weight gain. Yesterday I really reigned it in and made sure I got my walk in. Today, it will be the same way. Staying strictly to what I should eat...high protein, low fat and low salt foods.
So, see Ann, you share this struggle with me. We both have to learn to live in the "real" world. There will be weekends like this but the important thing is that we recognize what we have to do to get back on track. You are doing the right thing! You are making yourself accountable. Tell you what? Feel free to email me what you ate over the coming plow day weekends. Make yourself accountable to me. In return I will be letting you know how I am doing.
Congratulations on your success and the decrease in sizes!! Hope to see you on Thursday. And thank you for having us come and share your day with you!

Laurie, you are taller than me! I am 5' 1.5. I thought that maybe I had big bones too, but my sis always says look at your wrists, and fingers, and by gully mine are small. I would really like to get to 130, but maybe that is too high yet. I guess I will know when I get there.
Judy, it sure was great to see you again, so glad that you could come. I worked on another purse today, hope to get it done this week.
Beth, I am going to take you up on that offer of to e-mail you, thanks, that will for sure make me accountable! Thanks for coming sat, sure was nice to see you and Judy, you both look great!!!!
Leesa, I am not going to dwell on this thing, it is already 2pm and I have been extra good today!!!! I won't let this get me down!
