Smile New Here

Hello everyone. I am new to this board. I had my surgery, laprascopic gastric bypass on September 03, 2004. I have lost a total of 134 pounds so far. For the past 2 week's my scale hasn't moved and it is driving me nuts. I know I can't complain because I am doing really good but it scares me not to see my scale moving. I start to think this is it and that I won't lose anymore. I still have 59 pounds until I reach my goal. Even if I just make it to 199 I would be happy. For that I need 30 pounds. I hope to get to know all of you and to hear your opinion's and read your stories.

Shannon

Thumbs up Its all good

Congradulations on ur weight loss, I know when we have this surgery we all want to weigh ourselfs but what i have done, well i had my surgery on 09.27.04 and since the surgery I have only weighed my self 4 times twice at my check ups with dr.callerys office once when i was sick and had to go to my pcp and friday i was sick with the flu and friday is when i was really excited i have lost 100 pounds. So I think you should just concentrate on being active, comparing how ur clothes fit you and relish in the fact that you have lost so much weight the goal will come in time at least thats what i tell my self..anyways im very proud of you congradulation on your success....

Angry No loss for 2 weeks

I have also not lost any weight for 2 weeks, which I am freaking out about, but I went for my 6 weeks yesterday, and talked to Kelly, and she asked how many clothes sizes I've lost in the last two months. I said 2 she said you're doing fine. So instead of weighing yourself all the time start taking measurements also to see how many inches you have lost. I do it once a week, and this week I lost 2 1/2 inches in my waist. Not to shabby for not loosing any weight in two weeks.

Smile Your fine!

We all get that anxiety... great suggestion from Jeanie... alot of folks take measurements. You will find that you will lose inches without losing pounds... its weird, but it happens... and that's what counts right? Getting smaller.. woo hoo!

Sandi had said at the last East County support group that she hadnt lost weight for a couple of weeks I believe, but she had lost a BUNCh of inches. I never measured, because my butt is lazy and I knew that the weight would come off eventually, I dont suggest you be lazy... take the inches, its amazing to know how many inches you have lost.... many of us have lost 6-8 feet of fat! WOW! Its a trip to say, "I lost 128 pounds!" and its more of a trip to say "I have taken 7 feet off my measurements!" Woo Hoo! Take it easy sugar pea, and welcome to the best board in the world! It's a pleasure having you here with us! (( BIG HUGS ))

Thank you everyone for replying to my post. I appreciate the kind words...

Jeanie, your right about the measurement's. I started taking mine the morning of surgery. About 3 weeks ago I took them and then just recently while starting a new exercise routine with my sister and mother I took them again. One of the measurement's was considerable less that day then 3 weeks prior so I had my mom do the measurement's 3 more times and it came out right each time. Also I tried a pair of jean's on a little over 3 week's ago and couldn't get them on. I tried them again yesterday and they not only fit, but zipped and buttoned. I couldn't breath well but they were on.

Thumbs up Measurement

Try them on again in a couple of days, and I am sure that you will be able to breath. Pretty soon they're going to be TO BIG!! That's really the best feeling when your "tight" clothes before WLS become your "loose" clothes.
