I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. This journey is a roller coaster and some of us have bigger hills and valleys than others. I hope things get better for you very soon.
For me I worried more about getting in calories in the beginning than protein. I had chills and didn't sleep well and stuff until I could get in enough calories. Protein is important for healing but calories are important for living. Hopefully you can try some of the suggestions above and find something that works for you to get in your fluids and protein or calories. I know early on Mashed potatoes worked well. You can add protein with cheese or milk or powdered milk but just get something in.
Good luck. My thoughts are with you.

I remember having those same feelings very early out....I am not great advice but I can tell you that your not alone. I couldn't and still at 17 months can't do protein drink or shakes or anything in that form....I did not die from it...My surgeon just kept telling me to do what i could and I tried and tried and just made myself frustrated.....So still today I do not do them, I of course now get enough protein from foods that I am able to eat..but that took time...I also had a very hard time with foods..I lost a ton of weight very quickly because I was scared to eat and had trouble finding things that agreed with me but I am alive and healthy now. My suggestion would be like others......SF popsicles saved my life, I used to eat about 8-10 a day and just sip water...I did that for about 2 months after surgery...and like I said I did not die..I would try and throw a cracker in there or something but I have to say I had the same issues but made it through it and I am healthy and happy as can be now...but I sure remember being so frustrated and wanting to give up and I always thought I was going to die because I could't do everything everyone told me I needed to do like get my protein in and do broth, and all those other things...I did the best I could do for me and stopped stressing about it and POOF I am good to go now. I can eat healthy now and I must admit feel GREAT.....and I also was in the hospital all the time for the first month or so with dehydration and my wonderful kidney stones and infections and I thought my life was over then but now it seems so minimal....

Take some deep breaths girl, it is hard now but things will get better...Sending you hugssssssss and prayers and if I can do anything for you please let me know!

I was unable to eat for 4 months, I only drank water and even that was hard to do. Had 1 time in the hospital from my intestense stopping, 2 times for strictures... finally some solid food and 120lbs lost. hang in there, it is hard, at times I sat here wondering WHY ME why DID i do this to myself, but now I am happy, I wear a size 10 from a size 30... a huge change and I can feel it when I pick my kids up and just everyday tasks like taking a shower!
Hang in there, just think of other things...I know its hard, but you can do it and it will be worth it in the end!

I just knew I had made the mistake of getting the surgery for a good while after I had done it.... I was wrong... It was that rough in the beginning but has since gotten better. You need to contact the nutritionist that you saw prior to your surg. It will get better and I wouldn't be as worried right now with getting 100% of your protein. It is important but fluids are the most important. Also, the biggest mistake that I made post-op was not going back to the dr. and moving out of state and not finding another bypass dr. to keep an eye on my blood-work. I have caused myself nerve damage by not getting the B-12 that I needed and also went through a lot of feeling badly from being anemic. I now take b-12 shots monthly, iron twice a day and potassium twice a day. I feel your pain with stomach upset when taking meds. I hold my breath and wait for the terrible tummy ache after those last two meds but when I think of all the meds I'd have to take if I had stayed obese, it isn't so bad. Time is your best friend right now so know that it WILL get better. Good luck and God Speed!

I was wondering the answer to the original question - Can this surgery be reversed? I skimmed the responses (and might have missed it) but I didn't see an answer to the main question she asked.

I have no desire to get reversed, but I have never thought about it and wondered what the answer is?
