Default Open WLS - Scar healing

I had open RNY on 22 Mar 07, my clips came out on the 02 Apr and I had several places open up, and they are still oozy and slow to heal.

How long does it usually take? (Ball park, I know it varies) and any tips on what to use to help dry it up? (using TCP at the moment).

Regards Danny

What are they oozing???

Usually a dry sterile dressing that you place over the open areas will help clean the wound with each dressing change (twice a day). You can shower and clean with soap and water as well as a little hydrogen peroxide a couple of times a day. Ask your MD for their official wound care routine. It should dry up within a couple of weeks.

When I had my hernia repair I had a couple of open spots. The ps said to use A&D ointment or some type of antibacterial ointment to keep it moist and cover it with gauze . She said that peroxide dries out the skin and to have it heal better to keep it "moist" and covered.
