Default First week with no loss

I know I know I know... this is nothing to get alarmed about, but I have to admit, I am seriously bummed out today-- I weigh in once a week, and this is my first week so far (in over 4 months) with NO weight loss.

The rational voices in my head know it's because of two things-- one, that I haven't been drinking as much water as I should, and two, I have started working out at the gym so am probably building muscle. So RATIONALLY I know a no-loss week shouldn't be a big deal...

But still, I'm bummed.

No matter what anyone tells us we will always be bummed out when the scale gets stuck at a certain number or increases. Most likely you are gaining muscle which is a wonderful thing. More wonderful than weight coming off. You just gotta keep on keepin on and all will fix itself.

Default I totally hear ya!

Oh my God I totally understand!! I even GAINED 1/2 pound last week and was like "WHAT?!" But the next day I lost 2 pounds. Be patient it will all work out. And it is true about the toning too--I haven't actually used a tape measure but I know that even when I am not losing rapidly that my clothes are getting bigger. It really is true. Keep up the excercising! Good luck and keep smiling!

Yep, get that darn tape measure out! Last month I lost 13.5 lbs, but I lost 16.5 in inches! Also, if you are only weighing yourself once a week...who knows...if you had weighed yourself the day before the scales might have said you lost a pound or two. For me, my body weight will fluctuate up and down a couple of pounds depending on what I ate, how much I drank, and especially the time of the month! I betcha next week you'll see the scales dipping back down again.

I know they'll go down next week (at least that's what I keep telling myself!) but it still sucks... Unfortunately I am kicking myself for not taking "baseline" measurements before my surgery, so I don't really know HOW many inches I've lost so far, other than knowing that ALL my clothes are getting looser and looser by the day... (Yes, I know, I should just start taking measurements NOW.....)

You know there is no way around it... IT SUCKS when the scale is stuck. I remeber a MAJOR stall when I was at 84 pounds lost and crying and saying I cant believe I went through at of THAT for only 84 pounds! LOL I just KNEW I was going to be the ONE the failed at this. I was stuck for over a MONTH. As you can see I DID start to lose again and you will too.Our pour bodies are so bewildered at first... hang in there!

You have friends here who have been through the same thing. Your body has been through a lot of trauma - you were probably severly under your fluid levels before the surgery, and they pump you with so much "stuff" in the hospital that it takes some time to get caught up. The tape measure is your friend on the weeks that you don't lose.

I cried on the scale at the hospital when I GAINED 3 lbs after the surgery - I cried - I said "I'm the only person who can fail at THIS now too" - it's all normal...you'll be shedding the pounds and in a few weeks, you'll look back and chuckle.
