Default Protein and water made me gag, too

At more than a year and a half out, I still can't do straight water - you might try some sugar-free kool-aid or crystal light or even weak iced tea - decaf, if your doctor wants you off caffeine for the first month like mine did. Water and my pouch DO NOT get along.

Still only get my protein from food - I did, after more than a year of searching, find one liquid supplement I can barely stand - it's Enterex, for diabetics, with soy proteins, in small cans. My Wal-Green carries them. That might help a little. But it took me a few weeks to start getting enough protein from my food, as well.

As everyone's said already, they don't call it "hell week" for nothing. Between buyer's remorse (the "ohmigod, why did I do this" syndrome), the lack of energy, the gagging, the constant attention to what you're putting in your mouth, it's hard. But it will end, and you will feel better. Just don't forget that your emotions are whacked 'cause your body is flooding with estrogen from the fat that's disappearing. You will be over-emotional for a little while, too, so no big decisions for a little while 'til things settle out. Hang in there, baby, you're going to love the new you!

Rachel I promise it gets better . I remember posting the same thing right after my surgery and wondering how I would make it to the next day but now it's only a fond memory and I am 4 months out . I promise it's sooooo worth it in the end

Yup, this week is really rough, but it does get better. Get in what you can. In the first few weeks, I got in very little. Popsicles helped me get in liquids as did a little cream soup. Jello was good too. It was a month before I did finally get in all my water and even longer for protein. Not the ideal, or what you wish for, but it was reality.

Take it easy. The one big thing that knocked me down was the emotional wreck I was. Not that I was sorry I had the surgery, but I would cry at the drop of a hat and little things got to me big time.

Hang in there...

Bad News...you are in the land of no return, you can't go back. Well maybe later you can try but I don't recommend it as it will seriously F you up.

Good News....It gets soooo much easier. Think about things you can't wait ot do post op. Think of the reasons you had the surgery.

The tylenol w/ codine helped me a lot. I took it for pain but the sleepy side affects were a welcome release.

It does get better and it is worth it.

Rachel,
You're gonna be just fine! Remember, the only way to get past this is to go through it! Every day gets better, I promise!

Still pre-op here.. no advice.. Im just gonna be that little voice that you had a week ago going... "I know its work.. and Im ready to do it. I know its not easy, but I can do it.. " You are BOUND to be going through this! You just had your insides rearranged! No going back now... gotta grit your teeth, and watch the pain go away a little each day.. and I have never heard of anyone saying they can get anywhere CLOSE to the water in that they need to in the first few weeks... dont stress over it. SF Popsicles count toward fluid..

{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} At least you are on THAT side now

Default Just cry

I'm sorry it's hard right now, but like everyone said, it will get better! Please don't give up, you have come this far, and you will get through this. I know it sounds rather dumb, but Whitney can tell you (because she had to listen to me, I kept complaining to here during my first few weeks) I just gave up (so to speak) and let all my emotions out. I cried like a baby for almost 3 days straight. I couldn't drink like I thought I should, I wasn't allowed to eat, I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks. Everything made me sick, and your right that taste in your mouth is horrible. But it will get better!! I wish I had a quick fix, but I don't, no one does, my suggestion a big box of Puffs Plus, some popcycles, and some here and vent as much as you want, just get through this first week or so and day by day it will get better.

{{{hugs}}}
