Question Question about Dizziness

Ok, I've searched the forum but can't find a thread specific to my situation. I get dizzy when I lay down. It only lasts for 5 seconds or so, but its the "bed is spinning" kind of dizziness that reminds you of a really bad hangover. I sometimes get dizzy when I stand, but generally that's only when I jump up too fast and never more than a second or so and its the "head rush" kind of dizzy. I never really paid attention to it, until this week when I realize that it happens EVERY time I lay down. I tried searching the web for what can cause dizziness when you lay down, but that didn't help.

So my question to all of you is... what could cause dizziness when I lay down? Is it something I should call my PCP about? Could it be some kind of vitamin deficiency or anemia? I just had my 6 month check up last week and they did blood work, but I haven't gotten the results back yet. It hadn't occured to me before my appt to ask about the dizziness, so I let that opportunity slip by.

What do you guys think? Any and all opinions are appreciated.

Thanks!

You've gotten some good suggestions of possible causes. When someone is having dizziness it could be from multiple causes but some of the more common ones after wls are dehydration and low iron. An inner ear problem is also a very possible cause especially because of the type of dizziness you are describing. Personally, I would encourage you to call your doctor and at least let him know about it. In the mean time try to increase your fluid intake especially if you haven't been getting in the recommended amount of water.

Hope you feel better.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will up my b-12 and my water intake and see if it goes away. I will also put in a call to my doc. I had blood work done at my 6 month appt 10 days ago, if I was anemic or had a vitamin deficiency, it should have shown on the labs, right?

Yes, I would think the dr office would have called you if there was anything abnormal about your labs. At least that's what mine always does. I hope you can figure out what is going on and feel better.

i would call your docs office to make sure they got the lab report and to make sure your levels are fine...........one time i had a nurse accidently write file instead of phone on my report (which happened to show a fracture in my collar bone) and so it went un noticed until i phone a few days later as the pain and mobility wasnt any better, turned out they made a mistake and filed the report without phoning me, so i would phone and just make sure your levels are fine incase they just forgot or didnt phone.

good luck
