Default calling all peeps! I'm home with a question

Hello all,
I am home I had my surgery on March 28. All went well except I had some blood in my stool the day I was leaving. They were not going to let me go because my hemaglobin was lower than what it was when I cam in but still in normal range. They drew my blood again in the afternoon and it went up a number. I feel good but still a little sore. I am so glad I can sleep in my own bed. Hospital beds SUCK!

I have a question. It seem I am getting a lot of fluid out of my drain. I sometimes empty it 4 times in 24 hours. It looks good it is pink with some fatty tissue in it but I don't know if I am not suppose to have all this fluid. They left me with an emergency number but I don't think this is an emergency. I don't want to bother doc on his day off. I have no fever an fell pretty good. I am walking 30-40 min a day and drinking all of my fluids. What do you think should I call? Anyway it's good to talk to you all.

I'm not a medical person, but wanted to say "welcome home" and welcome to the losers bench! You're doing awesome with the walking and fluids! I say call. they gave you that number for questions...better safe than sorry...the person on the other end of that line will be just as relieved as you if it's NOT an emergency. Please call.

I came home with one drain. I was told to measure it and record it. I could see the output started really decreasing about a week after surgery, perhaps 8 or 9 days. Then it went down drastically. I was emptying mine twice a day. I wasn't worried because no one else seemed to be. I would say, if it was increasing, or the color was looking wierd, call. Heck, call anyhow! Most offices call and check on you anyhow, at some point!

Like many other things it isn't just the quantitiy, but the quality. If you drink something blue, and blue comes out....call your MD.

Dyann, I'd be drinking blue all day just to make sure there was no blue coming out since I'm so paranoid. LOL
