Default Finally Home!

Well, I had my surgery in the morning of 3/21. Dr said it went great. I felt really good the 2nd day and was told I'd be released the next day. Well.....at midnight I started getting really naseaus everytime I'd stand up to walk or use the restroom and then started throwing up green bile....and LOTS of it. The next night they took me back into surgery so the Dr could fix whatever the problem was. I guess I had a kink in my intestine. Anyway, he fixed it and I was finally released on 3/27 at 9pm. I'm doing better by the day, but 2 surgeries in 2 days really knocked the stuffing out of me! So I've just been taking it easy, sipping, walking, resting. My question is this....the DR says I'm supposed to take in 64 oz of fluids a day. I'm having trouble getting even 1/2 that amount in - I feel so full!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Welcome home, ya loser! Woohoo! As for the fluids...I had a hard time too...remember, the sf popsicles, ice chips, all count toward your liquid for the day...you may need to work up to it. Do the best you can for now...Sip, walk, rest, repeat! You're on your way!

Aim for the most amount of liquid you can do. Keep water with you at all times and sip constantly. If thats all you can get in, its fine.

You have been through a rough go, take things easy. If you can tolerate protein drinks, it will help you get feeling better faster.

Popsicles, popsicles and more popsicles!

Aww, sweety sorry to hear about your rough patch but you are home now and that is what matters. Welcome to the losing side, finally. It is hard getting them fluid in. I know everybody already suggested popiscles and ice chips but try using a straw. I know it may cause a little more gas but be sure to keep your Gas-X handy. Welcome to the Team .

Thanks everyone for your support! Ya, I keep a water bottle with me at all times and all I can say is "Thank God for sugar free popsicles!"

Lori,

So glad to see you home and on the loser's bench. Glad you are doing better.
I lived on SF popsicles...now I don't keep them around because I eat too many of them.

And I just wish we could get SF popsicles in England - I would love one of those right now!
