How Do You All Get In Your Protein?????
Omg . I Just Dont Get It . Im Almost 6month Post Op And I Still Cant Get In My Protein Like Almost Everyone Else. Im Lucky If I Get In 40 Grams A Day. I Prolly Get 20 - 25 From The Food I Eat . Then If I Can Do A Shake That Day Then I Get In 40-45 But I Guess I Really Don Do The Shakes That Often. I Have Never Been Able To Add Powdered Milk To Any Thing Since Surgery. Too Yuck For The Pouch. I Even Cant Do The Cib . Tastes Like Powdered Milk To Me. And Then Some People Get In The Protein From Their Food Alone . Geez I Feel Like An Alien . I Just Placed An Orer Of Those Protein Vials But I Dont Want To Have To Buy Those Things For The Rest Of My Life. Ya Know What I Mean?

If at this stage you still can't get all of your protein in from food, you are probably eating too many non-protein foods.
Follow the rule of "protein first, then veggies, then carbs" for each and EVERY meal-- no point in wasting valuable pouch real estate on food that doesn't meet your nutritional needs. And that doesn't mean "have a few bites of meat, then fill up my pouch with crackers and other stuff"-- it means "eat ALL of the protein I need for this meal first-- then if I have room left over, I can have some veggies, and if there's STILL some room, THEN I can have some carbs."

For some, food may always be difficult, but if you are getting in 40g with real food now, then you should be able to get in more quite easily. Start with good quality protein sources and eat those first. What kinds of quantity are you having at one sitting. Aim for 15-20g of protein at each of the 3 meals, then add in other items such as veggie/fruit. I aim for 40g of protein a day from real food, which sounds like what you are doing. The extra protein I get is from drinks, bars or hidden foods ie: tomato products, wraps and such also have protein.
I would say, unless you are working out a lot getting in 40g is not that bad. I wouldnt' go lower than this, but I think you are doing pretty good with the protein!

The easiest thing in the world....One ounce of Frigio low fat string cheese has 9 g of protien. One ounce of beef jerkey (depending on brand) has 12 g. I eat both of those as snacks at night. I aim for 20g/meal=60 g plus the above plus milk in my decaf coffee and there is 80-90g/day.
Like stated above. I make sure I get my 3 ounces of protein/meal in and I don't eat breads etc. Only low carb, high protein wraps. Really look at the non protein food you are eating.

If you find low volume food with a high protien content stay with those. I like blue bunny yogurt 9grams of protein with kashi cereal 13 grams theres 22 grams for a meal easy to eat and lots of fiber. Jerkey, low volume high protein content, and I find it easy to eat. Non fat milk is how I keep my totals in range, with coffee and hot chocolet. Chili easy to eat, fiber, high protein......don't give up!!!!

It's hard.
I have good protein days and bad protein days.
I find that if I start the day off RIGHT ... I have a good protein day.
bk - 1 fried egg with slice cheese 8 - 10g
snack - 1 protein shake with skim milk 23 + 5 gm = 28
Mainly I know I will have a decent portion of meat (10 gms ) for lunch and dinner (10gm)
So it's all down hill from there.
If I have a bad protein day ... ahhhh.
Also - watch your water. I find that if I don' t get enough water OR protein, I'm miserable.

I've been doing better about getting my protein in thru food, however I was still falling a bit short. Well, Starbucks has been my savior. My name is Lori, and I'm a Starbucks addict.... oops, sorry... forgot myself for a minute there... lol... A Venti sugar free vanilla fat free latte has 21 grams of protein (from the skim milk) so during the week, I have one a day. And that gets my starbucks fix in, as well as ups my protein.

I have posted about this place I order things from online. It is www.nashuanutrition.com. They have a discount club and free delivery if you order over $100 worth of things. Their things are great. High protein bars, puddings that have 15 grams of protein in one serving. I love this place. If you ask for samples she will send them to you. TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY.
