Ok, too some pre-op pics last night....just having the little panties on and all and once again, after seeing the pics, I didn't realize just how bad the panni it! I seem to be able to cover it up fairly good wearing pants...but just like Dyann said, now that the surgery is booked.........I want it OFF.

Yes, you will all see the pics, in due time. After the surgery, I will post the before, during and afters...although they won't look as pretty as some!

Here is my advice.

Ask for all of your prescriptions in advance so you can have them already filled for after the surgery.

Lots of dressing supplies and paper tape. All of the drains etc leak a bit while in and I seem to be leaking from the drain hole intermittently since it was removed.

My MD lets us wear spanxs type garments after and are very comfey...I do like the binder better for sleeping.

I am so excited for you. The weight loss is a difficult thing to comprehend, but having the panni off overnight being smaller is really weird.

Thanks Dyann. Paper tape? Not sure what this is? He allows us to wear whatever and I have never worn a binder...should I get one?

I will be in the hospital for 2-4 days and then its a 14 hour drive home, which we will do probably in 2 days. I have tylenol #3, dressings and IV tape already and have been thinking about what kind of pants I want to wear travelling. I was thinking of bringing both yoga type pants which hold in the tummy and loose pants which don't. I would think having it all held in would be the better, but who knows until then. NOT looking forward to travelling home, but the husband will drive, so I can sleep if I want. We will do like we did with the RNY, get out and walk every hour or so, and drink liquids all the way home!

I would recommend the binder or spanx for two reasons. Support and compression allows less fluid accumulation and helps with the swelling post op. I have been wearing soft cotton sweats by day. I have been able to put on jeans as of yesterday. I like the binder as you can loosen it and tighten it intermittently. The spanxs are better for going out, but with the anchor incision, you may need support higher up. You will also have to see where your drains are located and can you get spanxs on. Whitney may be able to advise you better as that is the type she had. I wish I had more tightness on my upper abd. If I am standing straight up it is ok, but if I sloutch at all..I get a little roll. You won't have that with the vertical and horizontal pull.

There are three types of tape, paper, silk, plastic. The paper comes off the easiest and doesn't leave that adhesive crap all over you.

That is going to be a long ride home!!!! You should have just flown down here!!!
