Default Hernia anyone?

Hi all, I had my 6 month check up with Kelly on Friday afternoon. Everything went well, then as an afterthought I showed her something I'd noticed the previous Monday while laying down trying to get my youngest grandaughter asleep. I was laying on my back and I coughed. There was this huge mound on my incision. Well I though it might be my muscle, and I'd never noticed it cause I'm a side sleeper. Anyway, I show Kelly and she cheerfully announces it is an incisional hernia! For those of you at the support meeting at my house on Wed, you know I cursed myself with my smart ass comment about praying for a hernia to get the plastic surgery approved. Apparently it should be fine unless it turns or twists. She said as long as it pushes back in it should be fine. I am really praying it stays calm, at least til after Hawaii in July! Has anyone experienced this?? Did they operate? Help!!!

Oh, Pam...I'm sorry this has happened. You know, when you showed me, the thought of a hernia didn't even enter my head. I do know that if it isn't causing pain you should be able to wait to get it repaired. Grayce has one and it was pretty big in July. At that time she was waiting to have it repaired.

Thanks sweetie, so far it has not bothered me at all. It is pretty big, at least the size of a grapefruit, but oblong in shape, kinda like an ostrich egg! I am praying it doesn't give me any problem until I am ready for plastic surgery and especially til after I go to Hawaii the end of July. I cursed myself! Thanks again

At just over 1 year from surgery, I gave birth to a bouncing hernia too. I had it repaired by Dr. Potts. The mesh they used was 9". I thought, great, this will help get my excess skin off. No such deal. The procedure was done lap so they could check out the rest of my intestine to make sure there were no other hernias lurking around.

Hey galz,
I know, I don't know if this is a curse or blessing! I have fondly named it "henry" and so far no problem except this wonderful hump. Please keep me in your prayers for no "flair up" til after July! Love you all
