I didn't really find He11 week that bad....except for the no driving part. I made it 10 days. I was bored as I shut off my cable to save money...stupid me. dont do this pre op. And one time I kinda fell into bed on my stomach...that was next to impossible to get out with out feeling like someone was cutting me open w/ a hot knife. But other than that.....lol. I don't think I struggled much w/ food or lack there of. But it was just poor lonely me as my daughter was out of state w/ her grandparents.

Rent movies, gather some books etc to do. How many people live or will be staying w/ you during your recovery?

If I'm not too late to comment -

I didn't have a hell week at all. I've never had kids or anything but I think it's just your natural constitution.

I did donate a kidney to my sister quite some years ago (where they cut you from your bellybutton all the way around to the middle of your back.) So yes, I was cut ... in half.

I didn't experience that much pain then either.

For the WLS in the hospital they gave me a couple of IV drops that helped dull me the first day ... but it really just felt like a tight band around my chest - but not pain. After I left the hospital the only problem I had was I was sooo excited and felt so good ... that I started moving around too fast and the incision for the drain opened up. It kept opening up ... every time I laughed or moved too fast so the first week home my Doctor told me to stay in bed and not to move or laugh at all until it closed up.

I was pretty antsy to get back to my real life so I had to MAKE MYSELF take it easy.

Honey ... I was JOYFUL during that time ... not in pain.

For me the pain wasn't bad at all..it was like I'd done a bazillion sit ups...but very bearable. I did use the pump in the hospital, and then the Lortab for a day or so, but it was fine. I didn't experience "hell week" really. I was released the day after my surgery, no drains, no problems that first week..I felt great...until 7 days later when the bowel obstruction reared it's ugly head....after that, I was one sick girl...then of course the pneumonia set in after my 2nd surgery.....and from there...there was pain...physical and emotional, but really, from the surgery itself, the pain was very mild. I actually remember being very sick from the anesthesia though. I was very nauseated and felt icky for the 1st 24 hours....

For me it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected - I didn't have any pain meds at all after I came out of the hospital - my insides hurt but it was bearable. Like others have said it was more just the feeling of - 'what have I done to myself'.

Don't worry - it's all worth it in the end and the pain really isn't that bad!
