Default Do you loose weight in your eye balls?

Does anyone know if you loose weight in your eyeballs? I guess that sounds strange but I wear contacts I got them preop and they were a good fit and now they float around all the time I have to go in for a new fitting I was just curios if your eyes loose and gain weight?

I had a friend in high school who when she put on weight her eyes bugged out a lot. She would lose weight and they would go back in, maybe we can get fat behind them and force them out of shape. Tim

Yes this can a happen, just go and see your optometrist and ask to be refitted with a new base curve of the lens you wear or for a totally new lens. Most lenses come in at least 2 base curves to fit the shape of your cornea. As I put on weight from when I was a teenager I need a totally different base curve now than I did then.

Default That has happened to me too!

I was on vacation 2 weeks ago and one of our travel companions was an opthomologist. So I asked her if the shape of your eye ball changes when you loose a lot of weight quickly. She said yes and that it mostly had to do with changing electrolye levels and fluid balance. Sounds like you have a good plan to get them re-fitted.

I know my optometrist has cautioned getting your eyes "checked" if you are on your cycle or pregnant due to hormones changing the shape of your eye. I would think that the hormones released back into your body post op (as these hormones were previously stored in fat.) would also cause your vision to change.

Tim, she may have well have had thyroid problems too? Hyperthyroidism can cause the eyes to bulge.
