Plateau Frustrations
Okay....well it seems that I've hit my first serious plateau. I went in for my 6-month follow up on February 15th and for the last 5 weeks, the scale bounces two pounds up and down. I've been used to losing almost 15 pounds a month. It seems like I'm stalled out and I'm even working out harder than I have in the last 6 months. 3 days it's 30 minutes of cardio and 2 days its weights. Am I doing something wrong? I thought a platuea would last a few weeks, but this is getting serious.

Plateaus can vary. I think I have lost 5 punds in the last month and not much more the month before. The body is just hanging onto those last 20 lbs or so - it will fall off in time too. Even though the weight loss has slowed to a crawl, the waist line has dropped to a 34" which for me is incredible (started at 42). So my advise is to just hang in there, keep with the rules, and dont sweat it. Looks like you are doing great already so good luck.

Its just a stall. Uptake more calories by adding another meal for 4 days then stop it, it will jump start you back on the right track. Plateaus last 3 months and longer.

You're only 20 pounds from goal - it is what everyone goes through. And you lost fast - you have to expect a slow down. As a slow loser, I can tell you that my big plateaus of 5 and 6 weeks were followed by losses of 5 and 6 pounds the two weeks after. So close to goal, it may go slowly for a while. I lost 3 and 4 pounds the last two months, so I can't even imagine 15!!

I hear you!
Fifteen pounds a month is crazy girl! I lost 20 the first month, 12 the second month, 9 the third month, and like 7 or something like that the forth month. I can not imagine loosing 15 pounds a month. I work out too. I am quite happy with my weight loss, but I would be happier with yours!
(my weight loss doesnt add up, but it is somthing like that)
Keep at it, you are doing great! ! !

What is important to remember also is that you are losing INCHES while you are exercising. You may not see the pound loss but your clothes are fitting better are they not?

My boyfriend who's been training me on weights twice a week says that I'm probably putting on muscle and starting to tone (my skin is just ick). I'm the kind of girl who wants results "yesterday" (if you know what I mean). He might be right about the muscle gain thing. But who knows. I'm just so very sensative about my weight now. But I guess my body is doing a transformation that just doesn't show up on a scale. Although I am happy with my arm progress. It's been fun watching my muscles show up. I've always been strong but I swear my muscles were so far burried under fat that I never new I had them. I had to attach a picture just for grins. It's a "mini-wow" for me to actaully see a bigger "bulge" in my arms then in my belly. hahaha

Jenn, that's just AMAZING!!!!!
I think most of us have muscles buried under our fat suits...wow, yours is really showing! That's great. You've done so well, and look so good. Take some pride in that! You're lucky to have a sweet guy who wants to work out with you.

Thanks Lynda...I think I'm just going to have to play the waiting game. I think Bridget might have a good idea....I'll try to up my calories and maybe even more protein, then cut it back in a few days.
