Default Blown out the right knee

Posted a while back about some physical issues I was having with my knee. Just got the results of the MRI - recently torn medial meniscus and chronic tears to the ACL in my right knee. I'll be talking to an orthopod in a few days about surgery. Bleah.

Awwwwww Lisa..... so sorry to hear that. *hugs* Are they going to have to do a total knee replacement? My mother-in-law had her right knee replaced this past May and stayed with us for a couple weeks after she got out of the hospital. Her "new" knee still bothers her a lot.... especially when the weather is changing.

Hey! Sounds like my left knee! I had a full ACL reconstruction plus a orthoscopic cleanout a year later for scar tissue and meniscus tear that was repaired, but didn't take.

Ya know what helped in my rehab? I had to drive a manual transmission during recovery! It really helped exercise it!

Healing prayers coming your way! Being skinny, you shouldn't have much trouble with recovery.

I am sorry you are having the problem, but could you imagine what the knee surgery and recovery/rehab would be like pre gastric bypass?? I hope you are on the mend soon

Default Thanks, guys

I appreciate the good thoughts. The thought of trying to have the same surgery two years ago, when I would have been trying to rehab a knee while my weight was over 300 pounds does help a little. The doc blames the chronically torn ACL on the weight my 5'2" frame was supporting, no surprise there.

I keep telling myself that lots of people on this forum have it worse, and all the other things that are supposed to make me feel better about it...and then the thought of trying to negotiate all the stairs at work with a braced knee hits me, and six weeks of physical therapy, and how horrible it is being on crutches, and being cut open again, even if it's arthroscopic, and there's no guarantee it will be, and how much longer healing takes at 47 than it does at 20 (when I had my left knee operated on) and the fact that any surgery on a joint raises your chances of degenerative joint issues later in life, and all the NSAIDS that I can't take as anti-inflammatories because of the GBS, and am allergic to Celebrex anyway (gives me giant mouth ulcers), which was the only thing that helped my knee pain pre-GBS, and holy crap, I have to stop now.

My brain feels like a hamster on a big, depressing wheel, just whirling around the same circular path. Sorry, guys, trying to cheer up, but this one's really getting to me.
