Default Have you had a change in your eye sight?

During the past few weeks I have noticed that my eyesight is deteriorating. Both far and near sightedness are being impaired. I have never worn glasses but I am quickly finding the need to use reading glasses. Is this a common complication.

Dave, I trust your feeling better! Could your eyesight just be a natural aging process, not that I think your old.... It just I know my eyes, which for most of my life were perfect, the envy of all my specticled friends, something I bragged about..oops. Now I have to ask my kids to read stuff to me if my glasses aren't close.
If you are worried, I would see the eye guy! But it may be nothing.....but.....the years.

Dave, I feel like my vision has changed, but not enough for a visit to the optometrist for a change in my glasses...yet.

Default Hey, Dave!

Just in case, take a look further under the Post-op section for a thread started by Loser2be, about surgery complications. It has to do with vitamin deficiency. Hopefully it's just old age, , but you never know!
Sure hope you're feeling perkier and the pain has gone down some!

Well maybe I am just getting to be an old fart. I guess I should make a trip to the store for some reading glasses.

maybe not getting enough water to keep your eye juices topped off? I haven't noticed my eyesight suffering.

I actually did in the first 3-4 months after surgery. Some could be vitamins or dehydration. Make sure those are ok and if they are...glasses or contacts here you come.

perfect sight until surgery, and now I'm blind .. well not blind but I have to use readers to see stuff, that I could read off a bottle. Doctor told me with rapid weight loss the pressure in eyes change, and can cause some deterioration. Do I believe it , not sure... Janie

OK I had to post here as the resident Optician!
Dave, are you diabetic? If you are you could well be experiencing fluctuations in your Rx. Other than that you may just be becoming presbyopic, which will hit us all at about age 42+, your arms get too short to hold material to read!

I have also heard of a case where surgery induced some problems with the macular and increased the speed of how quickly a cataract can develop. The anesthetic can do weird stuff to your body and your eyes can certainly be effected. If you are experiencing any shadowy type images go get it checked out as that can be a sign of retinal tears/detachments or macular degeneration.

Also go and see your optometrist, and maybe even an iridologist (they read your iris, its a bit like reflexology)
