Post Op cravings......
Just wondering if anyone has cravings post op??? I am craving things like salads, veggies, fruits, and WATER!!!!!
So far I am keeping an eye on my eating and protein.
Today I have had:
Coffee and one pancake
1/2 cup broccoli and cheese
slice of turkey meat
1/4 of a supermarket chef salad.
I was literally salavating over the fresh fruit cups at the grocery store.
Does anyone else have cravings like this....I am thinking it has to do w/ a vit def.

The biggest thing I craved was salads and sunflower seeds. At least you are craving healthy things. If you are getting all your protein I say go for it. Well that depends on how far out you are. Be careful with the fruits though. They may cause you to dump.

I think your protein intake is waaaay low. Maybe if you ate more protein, your cravings would subside?
Oddly the only thing I crave is fresh water over crushed ice.

I crave salads too. Another craving is yams! Yep, you heard it here first. I've never previously liked yams. I get the canned yams, smash them like mashed potatoes, a little salt and pepper, heat in the microwave, spray with fake butter and I feel like I've died and gone to heaven...

I have cravings for fruits & veggies all the time. I think it's my body's way of letting me know I'm missing some sort of vitamin. I don't dump on natural sugars so I can eat as much fruit as I want. If I'm having a fruit or veggie day I just give in to the cravings. Not hitting my protein mark for one day isn't going to kill me. If it was an ongoing thing there would be a problem.
P.S. I love yams...I get the fresh ones and bake it in the microwave then I put the spray butter, a little pumpkin pie spice, and splenda on top...yum yum yum

for some damn reason: Watermelon!
even right after my return from the hospital - I used to chew it up, swallow the liquid, and spit out the pulp ... now I eat a little evey week
in fact I incorporate lots of fruit in my diet: bananas, melons, oranges, berries
my other favorite snack: Almonds

Cravings
Ok, I feel like I could live on salads now, I have to limit myself to 1 small salad from Au Bon Pain a week (it has about 1 cup of lettuce, takes me about an hour to eat, but I'm in heaven for an hour)
As for other cravings:
Yams, canned or fresh heated in microwave with a little splenda and some cinammon
Any fruit, sadly 'Fred' hates all fruit, so only once a blue moon can I eat them
Beef, I can eat ground beef, so I make a lot of meatloaf with lean ground beef, a little ground turkey and 4 scoops Soy protien powder
Hormel Canned Chili no beans
Pudding
Man I'm weird

I have to agree with you. I tend to experience the same thing when it comes to natural sugars. I can eat fruits and veggies when i crave them all day and i feel fine.

Mmmmmm....YAMS that is another thing I have been craving. I miss NC where they had "loaded sweet potatoes" much like loaded baked potatoes.
I can make my own now and cheaper too
