Default I am alive and working hard to get better, Very slow process

Thank you so much for reaching out CeeCee Carrie Richy and Rachel. I have had a real battle to survive this procedure. I had my surgery On Feb.12th released from hospital on the 15 th feeling pretty darn good ready to get on with this transformation. I had pain in my left side that afternoon and took a couple pain pills the pain went away. The next day pain in my lower right flank pain meds made it a little better, Sat I just could not stand the pain any more I had no fever. I went to lay down into bed and passed out in the hallway. The next thing I know is that my wife is yelling at me to wake up and the paramedics were trying to load me onto a stretcher. Even during all this I felt so guilty for being so heavy it must have been hell trying to get me up. The ride to the hospital was very difficult. The could not get a line in and had to pick up a Doctor on the way that did get a line in. I got x-rays and a CAT scan. Found a major bleed about the size of a tether ball. located in my right mid back. As we reviewed the medical actions taken prior to my release. it looks looks like the anti clotting measures caused the issue, I was given
to much lovenox and coumadin. The pain was just horrific. My CRIT dropped to mid and low 20.s I am now doing better Crit is about 34. I was released and reentered the hospital two more times because of bleed which caused dizziness and weakness. I just could not even walk with out a walker and the it was limited to 20 to 30 ft. I just went to my hematologist yesterday and he topped me of with another litter of fluids.

I am struggling to take in enough fluids. I am now drinking about 85 ozs. / day. I am still dehydrating. I am dizzy all of the time and today is the first day I have not had a full time support person with me. This process has been very difficult and I still am afraid I don't have the solution figured out. The discussion now is around Imodium and an IV installed so and in home nurse can give me the fluids I need.

At this point We are hoping I did not make the wrong choice. We knew this would be a gamble with the Ileostomy and the active UC. WE WILL GET THERE...

Thanks for touching base . I have been in the hospital 4 times since Feb.12

I am taking in 85 oz.s of fluid and about 70 grams of protein. My focus every minute of the day and night is to get both to 100.

Sorry for dropping off the map

Sounds like you are putting in the best effort. Your body will catch up and it sounds like the doctors are taking good care of you. May I ask why did you have lovenox and coumadin??? Were you on coumadin preop??

Your fluids and protein will get there. Give it some time. You have a great support system there. We are here for you.

Dyanne,

Yes I have been on Cumadin for three year for a Protein s deficiency. started by the UC.

My surgeon was given a note for my file pre-op for recommendations on Lovenox and coumadin. My surgeon went on vacation and his intern says he did not see the note. He gave me 120 ml of lovenox and 7mg of coumadin the day of release. He admits the mistake and apologized but some times I think it will take more Than that. I guess we are all Human. I tried so hard to keep my surgeon informed of past Med history but unfortunately they took a cookie cutter approach. That max I have ever been on is thre MG of Coumadin.

Well I took a risk and I am hoping the only long term outcome will be my wieght loss and getting rid of this deseased colon and rectum. 175#'s here I come. I just have to be able to stay home and walk more than 30 feet.
