Default Gee Dave!

I take off for one day to visit my parents (Mom wouldn't believe I was really okay until she saw me in person!) and you come out of the woods! I'm sooooo glad to hear that you've may have turned a small corner? It sounds like you're getting good care now. Needless to say, our journeys since 2/12 have been vastly different, but I can't wait until you catch up and pass me! You have to! Everyone knows men lose faster! Sip, walk (as allowed!), rest, repeat! God bless!

Dave...I am so sorry! I work for GI docs...and was worried about you back when you were talking about having the surgery....now I am worried still! I do hope you made the right choice, and I pray you get better soon. It's such a hard decision. I had regrets when I had to go in for the 2nd surgery 2 weeks out. (obstruction). However, 4 months later, I'm feeling great! I hope and pray that will happen for you also. Take special care of yourself and keep us posted on your progress. We alll care about you very much!

Dave god speed with your recovery. I had complications from my surgery and have been sick for a year and a half. Not from what you have going on.
Keep the faith.. I am slowly getting well, and you will too. Some breeze through this surgery and some are not so lucky. I felt for a long time I made a mistake having the surgery. Even today I question whether I didn't try hard enough to do it on my own the old fashion way. Especially when I think of how I will have to live the rest of my life. But never look back only forward and keep your chin up. Things will improve. J

I had my surgery On Feb.12th released from hospital on the 15 th feeling pretty darn good ready to get on with this transformation. I had pain in my left side that afternoon and took a couple pain pills the pain went away. The next day pain in my lower right flank pain meds made it a little better, Sat I just could not stand the pain any more I had no fever. I went to lay down into bed and passed out in the hallway. The next thing I know is that my wife is yelling at me to wake up and the paramedics were trying to load me onto a stretcher. Even during all this I felt so guilty for being so heavy it must have been hell trying to get me up. The ride to the hospital was very difficult. The could not get a line in and had to pick up a Doctor on the way that did get a line in. I got x-rays and a CAT scan. Found a major bleed about the size of a tether ball. located in my right mid back. As we reviewed the medical actions taken prior to my release. it looks looks like the anti clotting measures caused the issue, I was given
to much lovenox and coumadin. The pain was just horrific. My CRIT dropped to mid and low 20.s I am now doing better Crit is about 34. I was released and reentered the hospital two more times because of bleed which caused dizziness and weakness. I just could not even walk with out a walker and the it was limited to 20 to 30 ft. I just went to my hematologist yesterday and he topped me of with another litter of fluids.

I am struggling to take in enough fluids. I am now drinking about 85 ozs. / day. I am still dehydrating. I am dizzy all of the time and today is the first day I have not had a full time support person with me. This process has been very difficult and I still am afraid I don't have the solution figured out. The discussion now is around Imodium and an IV installed so and in home nurse can give me the fluids I need.

At this point We are hoping I did not make the wrong choice. We knew this would be a gamble with the Ileostomy and the active UC. WE WILL GET THERE...

Thanks for touching base . I have been in the hospital 4 times since Feb.12

I am taking in 85 oz.s of fluid and about 70 grams of protein. My focus every minute of the day and night is to get both to 100.

Sorry for dropping off the map

Thumbs up

Thank you all so much for your prayers and positive thoughts. The difficulties continue. I was in for 5 units of fluids on three different days this week. I am sooooo dizzy and just plain wiped. I will be meeting with two DR.s on Monday and may have a Medi port put in. getting a vein for blood draws and IV's foe fluids is proving to be extremely difficult. My veins are just so hard and beat up. I am keeping the faith and recognize this was a choice and it will be OK I am my body just need to adjust. We started using Imodium to reduce the Ileostomy out put and it does seem to be helping. I will drop a note next week. I am headed back to bed. It is getting very hard to read the screen.

God Bless you all and Thank you again for your help and support.
