I agree: More fluid, protein and calories. As beth said; you are in starvation mode.

Same thoughts here - this surgery is not suppose to starve you to death. Your body thinks it's dying so it is trying to save your life during what it sees at the great potato famine by helping you hold on to some weight. Aren't our bodies great?

You need more calories. I would say no less than 65 grams of protein (do some protein shakes - 25 grams of protein at a time). And 65 ounces of water at LEAST! I do a gallon a day - yes - it is a pain in the butt, hard to remember etc. but you have to do it. You have to flush out the stuff you're burning off with something - and your kidneys will thank you!

It doesn't really matter how hard it is to do - you have to find a way to do it. This surgery will not fail you, but you have to work it hard.

I lost 21 pounds my first month and 12 my second - you're on your way to that if you increase as we've all recommended. There is a reason we're all saying the same thing - it is what works.

I track everything I eat and am only taking in about 300 calories a day, so I don't understand why I'm not losing anything. Everyone's saying more protein, more protein so I guess I'll give it a try. I've got nothing else to lose I guess. I'm not very happy with this surgery at the moment.
Ok, so you're saying you're not happy losing more than 5lbs per week? Hmmm. I'd be happy with that since I'm averaging only a little more than 4lbs a week (except that I'm happy losing my 4lbs a week).

I stalled out at 3 weeks too and couldn't figure out why when I was getting 100+ grams of protein and only 400 calories! After increasing my calories and decreasing my protein I started losing again. Since you're already tracking what you eat, then when you see you've only gotten in 300 calories for the day, you'll know it's time to put some higher calorie foods in your pouch that hopefully also have some protein. I find that milk adds both, so have a cup of sf, ff hot chocolate or some sf, ff pudding.

Hi Ladies and (my Podmate hunnyblonde ) Oh and I'm gonna start weighting end every week now!!!

Thanks ever so much for the input!!!!

Gina in NY, mine, VanessaSFL and hunnyblonde's numbers are very simlular!

Soooo I feel much better now. I was starting to feel bad .. you know what I mean. I struggled so to get the procedure and YES you see all these ppl with huge numbers so you kind of expect the same.

But .. as I know and everyone has said ... everyBODY is different!!!!

austingrrl, Yes,I have imagined that my surgern didn't even GIVE me an operation! I've imagined that he just put me under, dug 5 incisions in my abs ... and after I paid all that money ..nothing is different! Hee hee!!

You guys are right. I think my calories are pretty good - I take in 800 - 1000 per day but my protein these last few weeks has been a little low.

When I was home those first few weeks ... it was easy to train myself. Now that I'm out in the real world .. I have to make a special effort.

Hey, I've eaten with a few of my co-workers etc - with my small portions and NOBODY has noticed! Hee hee! Of course, I'm ALWAYS on some sort of diet so I'm sure people think I'm just trying again. Fine! I don't want everyone freaking out on my low volume of food.

This weekend I'm gonna hit the health food store and find some protein bars etc so I can sit at my desk and nibble during the day. I think I will start bringing my own big container of cold water as well ... because if I have to get up every hour or so and walk down the hall to get a glass of water ... I won't. I get caught up in work and it's hard for me to pull away!

Okay .. so I will try a new strategy next week.

About exercise .. I really had my heart set on doing it 6 days a weeks but by the time I get home (long commute) after work ... I just collapsed from the relief of NOT being at work. I've gotta work on that as well.

Again THANKS LADIES for all your support!!!! It's very, very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default Bella,

You are so beautiful and so kind to every post you reply to!!!!!! What would you say to someone who wrote this post?????

You would have said (before your wls) eat more protein....It's okay to vent after what you have been through.....BUT.

What do you believe in your heart???? You gotta believe in the surgery in your head and heart.

chin up....that hot bod is on it's way!!!!!

You're right ... thanks!!!!! (snif snif .. being a big baby now!)

You know what? I was gonna get the lap band at first which definitely has a slower weight loss than the RNY. Boy would I have been upset!

I 'seems' like before surgery - I was all mature about getting the weght off ... taking it slow etc .. But NOW ... I just wanna take off this fat suit NOW!

(I'm meeting some friends for dancing in a few weeks - and I'm hoping to be at least somewhat smaller by then!!!!)

Thanks again!

Im sorry but, I hope I read that wrong...and you actually ment 900-1000 cals a day and not 300.

if I read it correctly please for the love of god eat. If you don't fuel you're body you will loose weight but, you're body will eat muscle along with fat. You're body needs fuel and fat to survive. Please eat.
