Cool shopping for the first time since wls

ok so august 3rd I had lap gastric bypass and i've done really well. I've been lucky enough to share clothes up until now and i haven't had a need to go shopping well today... it was a whole different experience I was able to get into a 14! yes a 14 I say! I'm so impressed that I wear a medium I don't know what to do! Old Navy. Before surgery I was in 18's and 3x walking into a store unsure of what size you wear and what you can fit into is a overwhelming experience and I am in complete shock from all of it things i thought would never fit were too big. has anyone else went through this type of shock? I'd like to hear your stories.

I just wanted to say congratulations.
I had an exciting moment when I put on a regular XL shirt. I still am in the plus size for pants but it was really exciting to just fit in to and be able to wear a shirt from the womans department.

Sounds so exciting! I have clothes from so many weights on the way up (and I'm a bit of a saver) so I'm still in clothes from that, and exchanges. I have a big box of things to pass on at the next clothing exchange. The only clothing I have purchased on my way down was jeans at WalMart...I'm not excited about spending money on clothes yet...but yeah, I did have to go down 2 sizes from what I thought I would fit in. Sure does feel good!

I started out a 22/24. I am now a 6/8.

I, unfortunately, had no one giving me used clothes, and I didn't go to any of the consignment type places while I was losing quickly. Dumb.

In my humble opinion, you should try those options at first, until your weight levels out... or spend a fortune, even when you are only paying small amounts for items. I didn't listen to all the posts here telling me to do the cheap way while I was losing, and I am much poorer for it.

It adds up... bras, panties, tights, skirts, t-shirts, blouses, pants, shorts, jeans, sweaters - EVERYTHING had to be replaced. I still haven't bought a winter coat - I am too cheap to spend what it costs, so I bought a cheap wrap/cape thing and looked like a diva all winter, but who cares?

Take advantage of anyone giving hand-me-downs, or Salvation Army or whatever you have at your disposal... then you will have more money for later to buy fabulous things that you will keep for more than 2 or 3 wears.

It is like an out of body experience huh? I remember the time I tried on an size 18/20. I thought this tag must be worng. I had to take it off and have my husband grab me another 18/20 to make sure it would fit me the same. Big congrats on such a great and memorable experience.

I know that feeling of which you speak, and yes, it's awesome!!! I just went to Goodwill and found some nice jeans. Gap bootcut jeans..size 14! Love them! They are getting a little big now, but I ordered another pair of the same kind on EBay..only these have the button fly and are size 12! I can't quite wear them yet, but will be wearing them in a few weeks I predict! I am also wearing M scrub pants, and L tops! Only 4 short months ago I was wearing a 3X top and 2X bottom! Hard to believe! I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror sometimes and have to do a double take. I can't even believe it's me!
