Default Bikram Yoga??

I was wondering if anyone has done any yoga since their surgery, specifically bikram (hot) yoga? I have heard that it helps improve health all around. I have friends that are really into it and I want to try but I am nervous. Any thoughts??

How far out from surgery are you? I started going to yoga classes at 3-4 months out from surgery and haven't had any problems. I haven't tried that particular style of yoga though.

I am a little over 2 months out. I will probably wait another month or so to start. Thank you so much for responding : )

Default Sorry I missed this, I've been busy...

Bikram kind of worries me, simply because it's so dehydrating. For those who don't know, Bikram yoga is an intense yoga program practiced in rooms that are heated up to 100-115 degrees. I've always disagreed with artificially sweaty exercise--including wearing what they used to call sauna exercise gear, which is basically a plastic suit that makes you sweat.

Considering our susceptibility to dehydration, I would worry about this one a bit. If you do decide to try it, make sure you hydrate very, very well before and after.

You probably got so few answers 'cause most people didn't know what you were asking about...

I will be carful. I have a lot of hydration issues so maybe I should just do either regular yoga or maybe just stick with walking for now. Thank you so much
