Okay - so now it is a four week plateau...I lost 4 pounds last month and so far this month of course, nothing. I am sure I'll lose more at some point, but the number just don't add up! I feel like my body is adjusting to the 1200 calories a day and now that is what I need to maintain my weight. I don't know if I can live like this the rest of my life! And if working out every day isn't helping...I don't know, maybe I'd weigh more if I weren't.

So just complaining and I know this is just the way it is for me, but it is so easy to think - oh great - that's it. I had this surgery to lose 69 pounds. That was stupid...

But honestly, I will lose more eventually, but what an arduous process.

Maybe I'll go to 125 grams of protein a day...I already do 100 and 3 litres of water - what on earth could my body be thinking??

so sorry you are going through this. I am scared this will happen to me too. I have lost about 43 pounds in 2 1/2 months, but it has slowed down a lot, and it has me worried. You sound like you are doing everything you are supposed too, so I wouldn't worry too much.. Hope it starts moving again soon.

Chin up girl. It'll happen. more protein and more water are generally good. But on the other hand, you are working out like crazy and it sounds like you are eating right. How are your clothes fitting? Still getting smaller? Muscle tone shaping up? Remember that it's not just about a number. It's about the body and how it's functioning as a whole. Do you feel better with more mobility? Don't focus on the one place where the process isn't at where you want it. Focus on the positive, which sounds weird even as I say it but I still think it's good advice. Focus on the good stuff and everything else here will work itself out.

Don't over do it.... and try not to stress....since you have less to lose initally....you have hit the slow down period earlier...I slowed down at 8 months out. I still made it to under goal. You're right on track.

Oh Gina...I know its so hard and I feel for ya...really. I know being in that spot is so tough regardless of all the things we can say. You think its over, that you won't loose anymore...but in reality - you will! I had stalls all over the place, but eventually things worked out.

You kick ass, when it comes to working out, so remember you are much stronger physically and more muscular. I also did a different exercise at the platueu time, and that seemed to help too.

One thing that worked getting of a plateau for me was to increase my calories for 2 days, then drop back under the regular caloric intake...seems to boost the system to get more food, then take it away. I would think that having 100g of protein a day would be enough..you don't want to stress out the liver.

I am there for ya, hang in there.............you are doing AMAZING!

Gina, I had surgery just a couple weeks after you...I am going through the same thing...4 lbs since Christmas...it's crazy, I'm eating right and getting my walks in. I am not doing it with the intensity that you are, but still...I think that shows that it's just part of the process.

Gina,

I've avoided saying this on this forum because it seems to go against the conventional wisdom around here---so take it with a grain of salt if necessary...

My surgeon, who is the head of the bariatric dept at Stanford, told me not to eat TOO much protein as he has seen some people's weight loss slowed as a result. He told me to keep my protein between 60 - 80 grams/day.

You might try it and see????

I feel for you - I am going through a similar experience. I havent lost anything in a month - I keep yo yoing up and down over a 2 pound range. I keep asking: is this it? am I done? is it my fate to wind up 20 pounds from goal? oh well, I feel pretty good and the inches/fat have really come of, so I guess things are not so bad after all ...

we need to hang in there, appreciate our successes, and let time take care of the rest

Oh sweet Gina, you have been working so hard and you are so helpful to all that are in need, it would seem you should be the one to be happy with what is going on with you.....I do feel your pain....I have been stuck for weeks. I don't have your dedication with work outs so I don't have that to aide in my concern that I am finished.......I read here somewhere where someone just wanted to be free from the worry about the #'s and the amounts of protien and the calories and all the waiting.....That is where I want to be. To just be healthy, eat what I know is right, follow the rules and call it good....let the chips fall where they may........could it be so easy?

That is actually quite comforting. I know - well, part of my brain knows, that I'm not done. I really believe it...BUT WHAT IF I'M WRONG??!!

You know how your mind does this to you...

But we'll get there. I just thought I had signed up for the accelerated class, and I seem to be in the extended version. Oh well. Gotta check those forms carefully I guess.
