Normal or not?
Up until today I had lots of energy and everyone remarked how "well" I looked. Meaning not like someone recovering from a major surgery. Today I managed to walk the dog around the block and by the time I got home I was dragging and just haven't recovered. For the first time since getting clearance to go to the gym I didn't go. Just drained. I took a nap and thought it would help, but I'm more tired now than before.
Is my body just now catching up to the fact that it's been surviving on ~500 calories for the last couple of weeks? I did try to get in more calories today since the scale didn't move this morning. But I've been getting at least 60g of protein in since day 6 and all my water/liquids everyday. Since starting soft/pureeds on Sunday my protein has been over 70g each day. Oh and my doc just has me on 1 Flintstones chewable a day plus my main drink is Propel so the B vits should be good.
Blah! I hate not having any energy!
P.S. I first posted this in Raingirl's "no energy" thread, but reconsidered and decided to start one of my own. Sorry for the double post.

I feel for you, I have felt pretty good, then yesterday after a good nights sleep. I got up about 7 and by 8 I went back to bed and slept for 4 more hours, and was wanting a nap in the afternoon, slept all night last night. Now today I didn't even need a nap. Go figure. I think you are right and your body is adjusting to the fat being used as fuel instead of carbs. Tim

Yep sweetie - I think your body is just playing catch up with itself. You may look fabulous , but remember that you have just had major surgery (I know you know that) and to rest when your body tells you to - don't overdo things. Okay okay - I'll stop sounding like my mom by nagging now

It's the same way with foods, love. What went down yesterday with ease may very well cause a major ass dump tomorrow. Right now your bod is in shock for a bunch of reasons. Give her what she wants, when she wants it. Need to sleep 20 hours today? Do it. You may only need 4 tomorrow. This is precisely why our docs encourage us to take 2-3 weeks off, no matter how we feel.
Don't be a hero, that's how you get into trouble. Keep it simple, give her what she wants. If you WANT a particular food you have a better chance of it going down and staying down.

So Normal
Rene'
Don't forget vitamins....and rest. Take it easy. As they say, your body is catching up with the weight loss and reduced calories. One day, you might feel like running a marathon and the next day, you might be tired. I know I was dragging forever and B vitamins helped a lot.
I never formally said congrats to being a loser!!!

It happened to me too Rene. I felt good until week 3 and was so proud of myself and was thinking........."this is gonna be a breeze"...and then I woke up one day around the 3rd week and was like...."geeezzzzz, I'm don't feel so hot". All I wanted to do was cry because I felt so bad. It lasted a couple of weeks and then started getting better. Just take it easy and don't push yourself. Your body is having to use its energy to take care of itself and heal, so give it time. I do worry you are only taking 1 Flintstone and nothing else. I take B12, 2 Flinstones, 4 calcium chews, Iron, and Biotin every day. B vitamins are SO important after this surgery. Maybe you aren't absorbing them with your intake. I use the sublinqual kind, so I know I'm getting it. Maybe you should call your dr. and just ask them about it. How was your Iron level after surgery? Mine was checked before I even left the hospital. Maybe you need some iron if your anemic, which does happen sometimes after surgery. Just some ideas. I hope you feel better soon. ((((HUGS))))

One of the most variable things I have seen here is how the different doctors recommend vitamins. By one month, your stores start getting depleted. A flinstone is good for someone without a bypass. It is not enough of the right vitamins in a form that is absorbable. Some patients do fine on them, but absorption is unpredictable. I personally take a bariatric multivitamin. They are not expensive and come in chewable and capsule. I get it from wlsvitamins.com along with b12 sublingual.
Whatever your body is telling you, listen to it. It will revolt if you don't!!!

This was really the most bothersome side effect I had. Feeling tired and dealing with that, even now, with the anemia issues, feeling exhausted is part of my daily life.
To help with that I would take the advice of taking vitamins as many and as often as you can!
