Default Antidepressant Question........

Hi Everyone . I Have A Question And Figured There Has To Be Someone In Here That Can Help Me. I Am On Celexa For Depression But Dont Like The Tiredness So I Went To The Dr And Got A New One Called Wellbutrin . Well The Dr Said To Cut The Celexa In Half And Take That For Another 2 Weeks , Then Discontinue The Celexa And Start The New (wellbutrin). Im Wanting To Just Quit The Celexa Now And Start The Wellbutrin. I Really Cant Stand To Be Tired All Day Long. I Was Only On The Celexa For 2 Weeks . So Im Asking For Any Advice To This Issue . Can I Safely Do The Switch ? Thinking About Starting It Tomorrow.

I have been told that it is important to taper off of any antidepressant meds. I wonder if you took it at bedtime if it would help you not be so sleepy during the day? I would do just as my doc had told me to. You could call your doc and ask if it would be necessary to taper for that long maybe ask if you would be ok to just do it one week. I would definitely ask first.

I would follow what the dr says. I have been on Celexa for years and I feel so much better on it. I have also taken Wellbutrin with it and it is a good combination for me.

Hope it all works out.

omg. DO NOT STOP TAKING THE CELEXA ABRUPTLY! Taper it as ordered by the doc. If you don't, you will be MISERABLE. MISERABLE! the withdrawal symptoms will be horrible. It can also cause severe depressive episodes. PLEASE FOLLOW THE DR's orders.

I've been taking Welbutrin and celexa for years--ever since Celexa came out. Imagine my surprise when I had a grand mal seizure in a doctor's waiting room due to my Welbutrin dose being too high for my little 113 lb body and trying to not take Soma (muscle relaxant). So much for wanting to take less medication.

The moral is to follow the dr's advice, they really know more stuff than the rest of us. Even though all my docs know all the meds I take, this still snuck by them. Certain meds "lower the seizure threshold" and need to be tapered off.
