Feeling kinda blue???
Is it the weather? I dunno, I have lost 17#s so far one week from surgery. I am kinda tired and slow moving. I wish the weather was better so I could go outside and playyyy!!!!
Anyone else have this early post op?
I feel hyper sensitive, like every twinge or zing is a complication. How will I get through this??

Rain,
I'm only 3 weeks post op and I can tell you it gets better. I promise. I was miserable for about 2 weeks, but now I'm feeling really good. I live in NH so the weather has been terrible for about 2 months now...lol but I just walk on my treadmill in doors and think about how great I will look and feel this summer. This will pass. Trust me. Take care.

Perfectly Normal
Hi Rain - the blues are completely normal, at any stage in this process. Pre-surgery, you've got the stressed-out blues. Post-surgery, you've got the "my best friend (Food) is gone blues," "I can't eat hardly anything and I used to love to eat blues," "people are treating me differently blues," "food was my coping mechanism and now I don't know how to cope blues," etc. This is life-altering surgery and you're going to have to do some emotional work in order to keep up with the changes.
Although it is normal, if it gets serious or lasts longer than a few weeks, I would encourage you to see a therapist. Not because there's something wrong with you, but because I think all of us need help in dealing with this huge change. I can make a recommendation if you need it, just let me know. Of course, posting here on the forum is one way to seek help, so be sure to continue to do that!
Good luck!

Hi Rain,
Sorry to hear that you are down. I agree with Barbara R. Having said that its still difficult. Hang in there it will get better. I think once you're feeling better physically, the emotions will also get better.
Happy New Year.

already better
I already feel better, your encouraging words and a peek of sun through the clouds make me better. Rob, (hubby) said we should go out in a little while and walk in the mall or something. I think that will make me feel the best. I am not used to being sedintary, dispite my previous GIRTH!! I am waiting for Kelly to call and give me the ok for cream soups and protien shakes. Where do I get them??
Well, gotta go, while I wait for Kelly to call Rob and I are going to play scrabble and after I beat him, I'll feel even better!!

So Much Better
Rain:
You will feel SOOOOO much better after you get approval to eat cream soups! I felt like I had been reborn. That soup tasted better than anything I had ever eaten in my life...I felt like I would live again. Don't worry...you're gonna be just fine!
Take care...

Rain's normal!
Both Rain the person, and Rain the weather phenomenon!
But the latter can get you down after a while, especially here in SO CAL where we're not so used to it.
I came here about 8 years ago from New England, where I was affected every winter with Seasonal Affective Disorder - the blahs, feeling blue, depressed, etc. Never bad enough to seek treatment for it, but I don't have it any more since moving here. But there are people who get a form of this even in "sunny" southern California, so I wouldn't rule it out... plus at such a short time from surgery, your body is trying to figure out what hit it, so a few out-of-the-ordinary feelings, both physical and emotional, are bound to pop up.
Think cheerful thoughts, put your energy into taking care of yourself, and you'll be fine. How could you not - you're a LOSER now!
