I have heard some people say that the pasta swells in their pouch and makes them very uncomfortable... depending on what kind of sauce you put on it, you could have dumped from the sugar or fat content, too. For the most part, pasta is a no-no, especially early post-op.

So far, I've only had pasta twice (both times it was the high-fiber/high-protein pasta, like Barilla Plus)... it didn't make me sick, but I didn't enjoy it very much either, which is VERY weird for me. I'm Italian, so pasta was like life-blood before; now, I've had the same bowl of leftover pasta staring at me every time I open the fridge, but I keep reaching for the LF cheese or FF refried beans instead... go figure.

Aren't you only like 6 weeks out?? Give it time. You really need to get the good habit engrained before venturing to the dark side. Pasta is hard. I really can't explain how I tollerated beef jerkey before some other foods, but thank god i did. It is a great source of protein. With time it will come.

This early out, pasta will hit suoer hard - I still avoid it like the plague. Stick to your proteins for now for healing and energy. Stuff like deli meats, cheeses, chili (I love Dennisons 98% FF chili with beans...I have to compete with DH in our house!!), shrimp, talapia, salmon, tuna, chicken. Introduce carbs later and only in small amounts to see how your pouch feels and how you feel. Now is the perfect time to get to know your pouch...and to love and respect it and what it does for you

I had spaggitti early on as well, but my loving husband blended it for me. He also made sure there was nothinh like olives or mushrooms in it, just ground beef and tomato sauce. At first I thought it was a gross thought ewwwww blended, but it actually tasted good. -

If you wanna have spaghetti, try the noodle-less version. There is a recipe for it in the recipe section. Made with Spaghetti Squash and it is yummy. Made it last night for the 2nd time.

You don't say how far out you are.....but for months I was not able to eat long noodle/spaghetti. I could eat other shapes, but apparently I just couldn't chew it well the way it goes into little pieces all through your mouth. Now I eat it just fine.

Ack.. you had surgery just before Christmas right?? What does your dietician say? Here is a link to a website from Strong Hosp.. there are 4 diets listed... for different stages of the surgery..

How is the protein going?? Are you getting any in yet?

Edit: hm.. the link didnt happen.. lets try again : http://www.stronghealth.com/services...atric/diet.cfm

eeeeps.. try and stay away from that right now.
Think of yourself on a diet with some help.. stay away from all white flour products.. carbs and fatty things. Just try to make good choices and eat salads with beans and chicken in them..

I had a bite of brown rice once since my operation and it did not feel good at all.. I stay away from all that stuff now.
