I'm going on a cruise next January. I CAN'T WAIT! I've never been on one before. I've never been out of the country. (Montreal doesn't count. lol)

HAVE A GREAT TIME! Just concentrate on eating protein.

Take some food with you. Beef jerkey and stuff! Being in the middle of nowhere with all that food could be dangerous! I myself will NEVER get on an ocean liner.... I saw Titanic!

Default Cruising

Hope you enjoy your cruise. We are going on our 5th cruise in April. Although I haven't gone through what you've gone through, I'm on this board day and night trying to get more info for him. He's going to wait till after our cruise to have the surgery. He still has a lot of the process to go through. He had the psych eval and got prescription for his EKG. not sure what happens after that.

Anyway, there will be tons of food on the ship. I read on here from another poster who went on a cruise shortly after her surgery. You should be able to eat most of the foods just in very small portions. At dinner, there is usually a low fat or healthy item to choose from for each course.

I know you'll love cruising. We started out taking our son on one for his spring break in his Junior year in high school. We were so amazed at how special we were treated - from room service to dining room attendants. It was like being queen for a day.

We've done eastern & western carribean. There's a wonderful cruise site where you can post all kinds of questions. Be sure to click on the boards at top of page and then you can look for forums general or by cruise line, etc. I hope it's okay to post a link, here you go.

I don't know what line you are cruising with, but I went on a short one about 3 months after surgery on Royal Caribean. They were great!! I told our waiter the first night (he must have asked me 20 times if my dinner was ok because I wasn't eating much, I felt sorry for him). After that, I had no problem, he and the assistant waiter were there at least 6 times during the meal to make sure I didn't want something else. The night they serve lobster I couldn't eat it (Seafood does not agree with me at all!) They brought me soup and then found me some plain turkey somewhere. Anything I asked for, they found me and brought me.

I like RC but I'm sure most cruise lines are going to cater to their guests, just let your waiter know what you need. (A friend who was with me actually asked for grits for breakfast one morning and they said "not a problem" 5 minutes later, she had grits)

Default sorry for the double post

I got a message that said I wasn't logged in. Don't know what happened and I don't know how to delete my 2nd post.
