Finally made it to 2nd post op day!!!!!!
Hi everybody! Im so excited
I can,t believe I made it finally!!! I have so many things to say but I am so exhausted. I came home after only 2 days in post op. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the pain that was so severe. I guess I am just a wuss, but it was horrible. The Polmerado nurses were angels and need a big reward for putting up with me. Now I have it more under control. Biggest question is, how do you eat and drink all the time when you have no appetite and no space to put anything? Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all support and prayers pre op. (Surgery went well, but I had a lot of adhesions and they had to make 9 cuts.) I will write more when I am feeling better and stronger.
Love to you all,
Jessica
P.S. (Please don't let this discourage any of you pre op patients. It's worth it, and I would do it over again in a minute)

You are so cute. The key is to sip... all day long... never stop. It's going to be so hard to stay hydrated these first few weeks so just SIP SIP SIP. Always have a cup in your hand and make yourself do it. Don't forget to walkwalk walk too! I just did laps around the living room every hour. Congrats on making it to the losing side! I can't wait to watch your journey!

Yes keeping hydrated will be difficult.
Congrats on getting you're surgery and making it home okay. While you're journey may just be starting its hard not to smile about the great life choice you've already made. May you follow that up with many more.
take care.

Sip on your liquids when ever you are awake my husband got me a sippy cup to have because I would fall asleep with my glass and spill it. Sippy cup was in my hand the entire first two weeks and then I could stay awake and graduated to a real glass. Walking around the house I know you don't feel like it but it makes you feel better later. Glad to hear all is well. Hope you feel better soon! I don't think you are a weenie... I thought it hurt real bad I think I was so excited that I never really thought about pain. I would do it all over again even if the pain were worse and lasted longer.

Just keep sipping and walking like everyone suggested. The walking will get you going and help prevent blood clots. The sipping is how you will stay hydrated. I remember falling asleep all of the time and just having no energy at all. I thought I wouldn't ever eat again and just struggled to stay hydrated. It gets better as the days go by.

I can't fit into any of my clother to go out!
My abdomen is so swollen and distended aI can't get any clothes on. Is this normal? Is there something I am doing wrong? Even with the binder I am huge. It is all in the middle. Please, I don't know what to do. Also I thought we weren't supposed to having any appetite. My family was eating regular food last night and the smell was wonderful. My chicken broth and water just didn't seem the same. Is this normal right now. I took my first long walk around the block with my son last night and I was exhausted. How much and how far are we supposed to walk? I had my surgery on Tues. Please answer. I need some advice.

sorry i have no good advice for the clothes i didnt have a binder - maybe someone can go buy you a large dress that just slips on and off?
as for the walking, walk but only to the point of feeling a bit tired, not exhausted
as for the appetite - prepare for the head hunger to start in now - it happened to me at the two week mark, once i started soft foods and i even posted a question that sounds just like yours - i believe i said - i thought and was looking forward to not having an appetite, yet i am hungry, i am 4 months out and still fight the head hunger, and becuase it is so hard to get in fluids, our bodies will think we are hungry and really we are thirsty, so try to sip sip sip when dealing with hunger, wait the 30 minutes or whatever you were told for the time to be able to eat after drinking and if you really are hungry then have your meal - you are still on fluids though right? so broth, s/f popsicles, decaffinated teas, (i like crystal lite iced tea hot), and im sure you have heard of using non fat skim milk powder to increase protein intake and it can be added to almost anything, and of course try to get in your protein shakes when you can too...this stage it is most important to stay hydrated as said here, so just keep up the fluids, even though it is hard and you dont feel thirsty, i know i didnt feel thirsty, but you have to do it otherwise you will be in for all sorts of complications you dont need
hang in there hun and search this site for stories and posts that are related to early post op there is so much good info on here
take care and keep us posted.
