Default okay, 2 things to discuss...

The 1st one is a personal thing, information gathering, and the 2nd one is an idea for a wicked fun field trip.

1. I have been told by PCP and Dr. Potts that now that everything is over I have to go to the ER to be admitted for a gastric tube placement and "hyperalimentation". They'll put a tube in my old stomach and start loading it with stuff to make me gain weight. I set a drop dead weight for myself, and I have gone 1 lb under it. But I feel pretty darn good, I'm eating like a horse, and have a ton of fun things I want to do. The ulcer pain is completely gone thanks to Prilosec, and I have had NO pouch problems since I reported the Pissy Pouch day and got flamed by LQQKIN. (thanks again for stepping up for me, loves!) Question: how long will I be hospitalized, and how debilitated will I be? (No hot tubs or swimming?) Is it just an overnight thing, or will I be there longer? Dr. McHottie?

2. About 1to 1 1/2 hours north of here is a place called Glen Ivy. It is a day spa that totally rocks, and is very affordable. Google Glen Ivy for more info. Anyway, between the East County, North County, Imperial, and Riverside, this place is an ideal middle ground. I would take responsibility for arranging everything--I'll see if I can get a group discount if a number of us want to go. Day is flexible--Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun are all slightly higher due to it being the "weekend" rates. It's a really great place and we could have a lot of fun. Who wants to go? If out of towners want to go, we have space for lodgers...

Donna,

Do they still want to go ahead with this now that you are keeping food down etc??? I would be afraid of another procedure if you seem to be on the mend finally. I would just hate to see anything set you back Sounds like you are finally on the road to recovery, thank God. About the spa thing, sounds good but I'm afraid anything like that is out of my budget for a while.

Take care of yourself (or let Michelle do that) and let me know if you need anything. Hugs darlin'

Talking Thanks for the thoughts Donna....

Gosh another spa day sounds so nice especially after I got treated to some spa treatments over the Christmas holiday I had a day at the spa with the boyfriends mom it was just so relaxing and awesome that was my first one ever but unfortunatly after the Christmas trip and a trip being planned for Vegas the first weekend in February for Superbowl it will probably not be feesible for me for a little anyway. I hope you all have a grand time though take lots of pictures and tell us all the crazy wild fun stories and maybe later in the year we can do another trip.

Hi Donna -

I tend to agree with Pams question - I am concerned that since you seem to be mending nicely now that you're able to eat, why would they do something invasive? (Leave my Donna alone!!!!).

As for the spa day - I think it would be a blast, and am generally available Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays

Donna first of all I hope that all goes well for you. Hopefully they will change their minds because you are able to eat again.
2nd I LOVE going to the spa. When you get more answers let me know about a date. There are some days that I CAN NOT take time off of work. They just won't let me..................dirty bastards lol

Hi Donna!

I am glad to hear you are doing better!! I am with Whitney...now that you are eating you should be able to gain some weight and level out....right???

As for Glen Ivy...LOVE THAT PLACE!! I just went there in Oct. with Chrissy (Wildblnde34..who's not 34 anymore)...we had a great time. Let me know what date you all decide on and hopefully I will be able to attend!! Right now for me Sunday is the best cuz the kids have sports on Saturdays...but pick the best day for the masses!!

If your symptoms are gone and you are able to eat enough to gain weight, maybe see if they can put it off for another week or so. Log your food and calories as proof.

A g-tube is difficult to place in the native stomach. It depends on how good of an endoscopist they have there. Other wise it needs to be surgical. Either way is same day or overnight stay depending on how complicated it is. The g tube is a last resort, but at least you can get in much more calories and you wont have to worry about dumping. How much weight do you want to gain??

I hope you can put it off and gain on your own.

I agree with Dr McSkinny! Talk to your docs, ask them if they can wait, to give you time to show them you can gain the weight yourself. Tell them you truly are afraid of another procedure after everything you've been through. (cuz I'm sure you are )

Donna, I am so relieved that you are feeling better honey. I worry about you going through another procedure too. I think I would push as many calories down my throat as I could possibly and show them that I could gain it on my own without that nasty tube. Learn to graze and drink lots of protein drinks with protein powder, milk, and yogurt. They are full of calories and you get tons of protein too. Good luck sweetie. Keep us posted. Wish I could go to the spa with ya..... 0ne day when I visit, we will HAVE to go!
