Default Can someone fill me in on what phase 3 and 4 include?

I only have print outs for the first 2 phases, maybe because my Dr. didn't want me to advance quicker than I should, but I'm dying to know what I can have next, it gives me something to look forward to. Thanks so much in advance.

Sorry, I am not familiar with the term "phase" in WLS at Dr. C's office. I too would like to know.

Next phase is soft foods: beans, eggs(not fried), tuna and other fishes, crackers, cheese, yougurt, canned veggies, pates, liverwurst, tofu, beef jerky, very crispy bacon.....etc. Choose low fat versons of anything. You'll need to add protein shakes, as it will be impossible to eat enough. You'll only can tolerate 2-3 bites of food initially. Remember to always chew well. Also, no liquids for at least 1/2 hr before or after solid food as it can wash the food away too quickly and make you feel sick. Also no corn, rice or doughy bread like tortillas or sliced bread for 3 months. Doughy bread will expand and can overstrecth the sutures/staples of the stomach. No carbonated beverages either. No fresh veggies either. Your new stomach is only the size of a golfball. Treat it gently.

After a month or two of that, you can transition into more regular foods as you can tolerate. Always protein first. You'll have vitamin and mineral supplements to take to compensate for lack of veggies.

It's just a guideline. It's all trial and error as everyone is different. You may tolerate one food one day, and the next it will make you sick. Then later, you may be able to eat it again.

Bug your surgery center for more info and see if you can meet with a dietician. They must have one that know bypass guidelines.

You have a different doctor than 99% of the people on this forum. Follow the food recommendations that YOUR doctor suggests.

Do exactly what YOUR surgeon recommends.... they are all different and have their reasons for recommending things when they do.... the stuff shared here is from our surgeon specifically........good luck!
