Default Yet another stricture

Well, I'm almost two months post op and on my way to my third stricture I believe. What in the world keeps causing me to have these things? Also, what happens if I keep having them? Is there anything they can do?

I don't know of anything that will prevent or cure a stricture otherthan the standard scope. But when I was having closure issues - to extend the time between scopes my doctor had me sip carbonated water. It helps naturally expand the opening with the bubbles. Fair warning, don't do too many pops that way - those are more carbonated than water or fountain drinks so it will hurt! I still drink a fountain drink now and again when I'm sick of water!!! Good luck!

What are strictures ?
How do they effect you and can we all get them ?

The reason I ask is I am 2 month post op and still have trouble eating pureed and mashed food. My doctor thinks I am not eating enough and losing weight too fast. 56 pounds lost so far.

How would I know if I had one ?

Am I being silly to worry

I want to know what a stricture is too? I have not heard of that before. Is it like a blockage??

A stricture is the closing of the intestines where the new pouch connects. It's caused by scarring and tightening as it heals. It's fixed by a small scope sent into the stomach and stretched open. Most people are cured by one or two scopes - some take 5 - 6 or more, each depends. Throwing up, and not being able to eat without pain are possible signs of a stricture...but only your doctor can diagnose!!! Good luck!
