Default Carnation Instant Breakfast Question

I've been looking for this stuff since I've been able to shop...Walmart and Albertson's don't carry it. I didn't find Sugar Free, but I did find a No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast today at Rayley's....However, I notice it has 7g of sugar, then if I add my soymilk to it, it'll be 17g. Isn't that too much sugar to have at once? Just curious. I know you ladies talk about having it and how good it is, so it must be okay...but I just want to check with you first. Did I get the right stuff?

Yes, you got the right stuff Elaine. It's the kind in the blue box. What you have to realize is that the sugar in the product id the sugar in the milk. It shouldn't cause the problems that raw/natural sugar has because it is utilized differnetly in the body. It isn't a simple carbohydrate, it is a complex one. I've been on it since day one post-op and have had no problems.

Well, I just had the CIB and it was great! I got 2 boxes...1 chocolate and 1 variety pack. I had the chocolate this morning. Yum! It was expensive at this store...$5.19 a box....but it's good, so what the heck! I'm saving a fortune in food at this point, so I can afford it!

If you go to CarnationInstantBreakfast.com and sign up for the newsletter, you get occasional coupons as well as ideas to doctor it up a bit. I like adding a dash of cinnamon to the chocolate or mixing it with coffee instead.

Thumbs up

Elaine,

I use them almost every morning for Breakfast and they have really helped me out when solids and I don't get along.

Infact...I had two at work yesterday.

Julie, made with 1 cup low fat milk gives you 13 grams of protein. The powder alone is 5 grams and then you just add in whatever the cup of milk is. I usually use it and make a smoothie with the Blue Bunny Crab freedom yogurt which adds in an additional 9 grams of protein for a total of 22 grams.
