Ham question
I've looked all through my literature from the surgeon...and can't find anything about ham. Am I allowed to try ham? Anyone else have any ham experiences they want to share? lol The ham we bought is just a plain ole' ham..no brown sugar or anything. My husband is diabetic, so neither of us do the sugar thing. If not, I'll be having chili for Christmas dinner! That's cool with me!

I was able to have ham (any pork, actually) when I was allowed beef - I think it was 6 weeks out, or maybe 8 weeks - I'd say try a little bit and see if it agrees with your pouch

I didn't have any problems when I ate ham at Thanksgiving after I had WLS. I had mine 4 months before. All you can do is try a little and see what happens.

Our program says any pureed meat starting week 2. I had a can of LF ham and potato soup, put it through the blender, and it was OK.

I like ham and it does fine with my pouch, but I can't eat very much of it before I am over full.

Monday is my first day on pureeds and one of the things on my list is lean ham. My mom makes the absolute best Christmas ham! I don't know now lean it is, but I'm planning on trying it anyway. The nut said that would be okay as long as it would just be a one-time thing. I am SO looking forward to Monday! I am almost gagging with every sip of protein shake I take now. Yuck! Good luck with your ham!

ham its a good thing
My dad is a diabetic too. Instead of a "traditional" honey glaze, I used Davinci ginger bread syrup and maple groves farms sugar free pancake syrup to baste. YUM YUM

That sounds good! I will have to try that. I am looking forward to the ham. I'm going to make ham and black bean soup with the leftover ham...that'll be good for us too!
