What the heck is a Fobi pouch? I have never heard of that. Does that mean that your stomach is banded like a lap band??

Not like a lap band, it is not adjustable. My doc calls it banded RNY. It is the RNY procedure just like you all have but there is a silastic band around my stoma, where the roux limb is connected to the pouch. This band right now is just kinda hanging there loose. As time goes on, when a lot of people stretch their stoma and end up losing restriction and gaining weight, that band will stop my stoma from stretching. http://www.cstobesity.com/ has more information about the procedure, it was invented by a Dr. Fobi in CA.

Do people really stretch their stomach back out? That seems to defeat the purpose of all this doesn't it? I must be naive. I do not plan on stretching my stomach back out. But I guess no one ever does huh?

Hope you soon feel better
I was reading you email and just wanted to wish you well.
I found the fliuds a better deal with the band and when I have my first adjustment I have been told it will be 3 days of this agsin and then soft foods.
When you read peoples emails it is odd that all hospitals have different eating plans when you have these ops.
I am allowed from next week proper food but not bread or rice yet? I will be 6 weeks then into my plan.
take care Dianne

Mina,
My surgery was done laprascopic and I have the Fobi.
Dianne,
We aren't talking about the lap band, your band is adjustable and you get periodic fills. I had the RNY procedure, I just have a silastic band around my stoma. It is not adjustable and I don't have to go through having fills and all the maintenance that goes with the lap band.
Good luck to both of you! Mina, if you have any questions, ask away!

Tonya..WOw intresting i have read and thought it was only done with open rny guess it depends on the doctor.. good to hear its not only done that way.. I'm concern on that ring slipping in the future or the stomach groing around the ring blood flow erosion etc future complications due to that and having to get cut open cause of it but im still intrested the feeling full is what sounds great... i know everything that has to do with RNY is dangerous and may have complications but the less to provoke is best.. thanks
